And now that I'm looking back over my list and editing for the many typos--It finally rang my bell that I seeded your Maxi Jala (F5) but forgot to seed mine to compare!!!! Oooppps! Your seed came up in less than 5 days!! I will seed some of mine when I see what comes up from latest batch and know what I need to reseed-- Like my Krimzon Lee (F1) which is 0% after 12 days dang it! (although I seeded a bit older batch than what I sent you, me thinks I need to find new supplier for krimzon lee or hope our F2s work out)

lol... 4 giant marconi and 5 sweet banana peppers here, planted out today... ;D Hey DLD! Pepper on my friend! Is your Giant Marconi the hybrid or open pollinated version? I like both! For me, the op version seems closer to a large Marconi Red while the hybrid is a super elongated bell, but both are mighty fine in production and flavor for me! And I sure like the productivity of those banana peppers, but flavor certainly varies year to year, at least for around here. Good luck/Good skill and enjoy!

Look forward to seeing what your garden's F5 does in comparison to my garden's F5. Here at the Pound, I'll be comparing the F4 to my garden's F5. Oughta get some interesting results in different views! Sorry to hear about the KL F1 germ. result. I've still got 9 seeds of the KL F1 2012 lot that you sent me. Need an emergency re-route home? Let me know! And I am hoping the F2s give us a similar result to what the F1s do. LOL. I was looking up the Doe Hill and the Lipstick which I think I've heard of before on the forums, but wanted to be sure I was thinking of the correct peppers, and the Earbob, as I've never heard of that one and the name was a little different!

Oh My, that is a lot of peppers! What will you do with all of them?
Just "Sweet Pickle Peppers" for me. My garden neighbor will give me the one hot pepper fruit that I need for salsa making.

I got all of my seeds soaking on 4-1, then in the sprouting tray on 4-2 - a day late, compared to normal, but I was off then!
Here are this year's peppers:
7 Pot Brain Strain 2013 Aruna 2012 Espelette 2012 Evergreen's Thai Super Hot 2013 Evergreen's Korean Winner 2013 Fresno 2011 (low %) Habanero Bahamian Goat 2012 Habanero Golden 2012 Habanero Red Savina 2013 Habanero White Bullet (low %) 2008 Hanoi Market (low %) 2009 & 2010 Ixtapa Jalapeño 2009 Kashmiri 2012 Lombak 2009 Maui Purple 2009 Peppadew 2009 Phuljadi 2012 Red Demon Thai 2013 Starfish 2012 Super Thai 2013 Trinidad Scorpion 2013 Volcano 2009
Even though I'll only be growing one of a few of the varieties, I think I'll still have enough capsaicin in my pantry for the off season. Those low % ones I have to be sure to isolate and save seeds for this year.

That is a nice list there TimT. I am jealous I have several going but not near that many. But all mine are not doing worth a poo poo.
Good luck to you all I may be re-dropping.

Hey Mr. Dawg: Thanks for the offer of return Krimson Lee, but I've got plenty. I was trying to use up the last of the 2010 seeds. Doe Hill is a good'en. 1st year for me on the Lipstick and Earbob. I had to grow Earbob for the name if nothing else! Or maybe I'm working on a "face" grouping! <grin>
Hey Izit: I gave Sweet Pickles a rest this year, but we sure like it and the grand kids will probably bean me for not growing it!
Hey Gixx: Sorry your peppers are not doing so well. Maybe they are they are just jealous and sulky as they see all your mater varieties!
Hey Dave: Always enjoy seeing your impressive hot pepper line up! My days of the really hots (at least to me) are pretty much over. I've got seeds for Lombak, but never got around to growing it yet. What kind of flavor and heat does it have?
Pepper on good folks!

Pepperhead212, I suspect you'll have enough capsaicin in your pantry just from the Brain Strain and the Scorpion! Very nice list you've got going.
TimothyT, figured you had a stash, but just wanted to be sure you weren't in a bind. That'll make quite a face, but she should be a hottie! heh-heh.

What kind of flavor and heat does it have? Pepper on good folks! Tim, The Lombak is about 6-7 in. long, by about 1 in. wide, with not real thick flesh, but I still split them open before drying, as they take a little too long otherwise. They are only about 15-20k (just guessing), and are good ripe and fresh, or frozen, in Malaysian and Indonesian dishes, and good dried out in Thai dishes (it caramelizes well in nam prik pao, but still not as good as Superthai). Not much flavor when green. Two plants give me a gallon of dried, and a large number of frozen peppers every season, which I put in foodsaver bags - about a dozen bags of 4-6.

I have fewer superhots this year, more focused on savory and early ripening thick fleshed peppers, many have yellow flesh at onset. Mariachi f1 was really outstanding again last year. Also still trying to find that really vigorous dwarf that flowers in low light for overwintering on the windowsill. I'd be happy to find varieties that grow well outdoors in May before nights warm up here. Peppers seem a lot less cold tolerant in spring than tomatoes. order in sublists reflects numbers of plants, so is not alphabetical.

Ok, more homework for dawg. I don't know 1/2 of the varieties you listed Swamper. Looks like a nice well-rounded grouping.

Hey Dave! Thanks for the information on Lombak! I might have to put it the rotation next year. And I also cut most of mine length wise to smoke and/or dry in the dehydrator as it sure makes them dry quicker and more evenly.
Hey Swamper! Great list! And you've got me doing home work too! Is that "Brazilia Rainbow" or Brazilian Rainbow? I've grown the Havasupai a mild/medium Arizona chili, but not a Havasu. Do you know if it is the same? OK, need to do homework before I bombard you with too many questions! <grin> Of the 4 peppers I grew over this past winter in low light/low temps, Frank's, Roumanian Rainbow and Black Hungarian did the best for me. BH can get large, but responds well to pruning to keep small. Past seasons Sweet Pickles and Chinese 5 color have worked well. And I hear that Apache is supposed to. Hope you have a great growing season!

Steph, aka Surfgrl sent me the Brazilia Rainbow, that's what she wrote on the envelope, but it's probably the same as Brazilian. Havasu is an f1 from Johnnys that looks a lot like Mariachi, also an f1. www.johnnyseeds.com/p-8865-havasu-f1.aspxFor the record I am growing f1, f2, or f3 of many of the peppers listed that are f1s. The 2 Bonda Ma Jacques randomcrosses are presumably f2s this year, One was definitely with golden bullet,so it's pure chinense, the fruits looked more like golden bullet than Bonda Ma Jacques. The other an unknown larger annuum.

Thanks for the info Swamper! Havasu is definitely different from Havasupai chili. And I've had both good/bad years with Mariachi. And I find growing out the F1 hybrids is always fun/interesting as some seem to not be hybrids at all while others are all over the board! Just now working on my own crosses for the last few years. Here's wishing you good luck & good skill in all your growing endeavors!

Thanks Dono Come to the garden show and I can load you up with a few Italian fryers. Maybe a few others. The Cuneo's I see are about to bloom, which makes them one of the earliest and most productive open pollinated peppers I have grown.

my list of peppers for this year is not a long one, even though I really like growing peppers. My dad gave me a whole box full of pepper seed He had saved and in order to get fresh seed, I planted out mainly what he gave me which turned out to be fore the most part too old with no germination. But what I did get up was.
Caramagnola Rosso Corno Giallo Corno Rosso Cuneo Gailla D' Asti Newmex Big Jim Orange Sun Red Marconi Round of Hungary Perminto Tollis Sweet
Like I said I tried many more but with no success So I will have to go with what I got and maybe buy a few more for seed saving purposes.
