Tomatoes on way to freezer on 1 October, 2009. Such a slow ripening year! On way to freezer 1 September, 2010. This is more like it!

The Opalka type with the crack is actually Jersey Devil and the tomatoes in the bottom third row are Reisetomate (some call it Voyage) on the left from JD and Costoluto Genovese (which were horrible and very catfaced) on the right...

They are quite late and I don't think you would get a decent crop from them. But, yes, they are great, they are cherry toms fused together in one big fruit, I love to pick the first ripe one and let the others in the same fruit grow on, it's really fun. It would be a great tom for kids...

Ciao Iva-
My stepson grew Reisetomate/Vogage in 2008 and won Ugliest Tomato at the Buffalo-Niagara Tomato Tasting event at Remy's. It's a really good candidate for children's gardens for sure.

Haha, to some it is ugly, it is the most 'untomatoey' tomato you'll ever see. But to me it is just beautiful

Last plate of tomatoes-5 November, 2009 What varieties are at 5 and 6 O'clock? I love that yellow heart. I will be trying the riesetomate again this year. I had no luck last yr. It's one of the strangest fruits I have ever seen. Very cool looking.

Hi, Flowerpower. Sorry I'm late. The yellow heart is an under ripe Orange Oxheart I got from Althea. She had some variegated foliage on hers, probably from a neighbor spraying weeds. I had ordinary foliage. The Green When Ripe on the left and the four dark ones on the right are segregating related lines I'm growing out after the bees have done some crossing in my garden. I had fun growing Reisetomate one year.

Ciao all- Here are a few from last season - the big red one is NOT Spark's Yellow, I grew several pink hearts last year so I'm not sure which one that is, the medium yellow might be a small Spark's Yellow or Summer Cider, the pale yellow/ivory oblong is Powers Heirloom, the 2 blocky pinks are Kalman's Hungarian Pink, the green oblongs are stratcat's Green Bomb, the 2 nippled yellows are Anna Hermann from Manfred Hahm, the orange trying to hide is Kaki Coing, again from Manfred Hahm, the black/brown is Black Belle, the ruffled red is Zakopane from Manfred Hahm, and that pale red in the back is probably one of several Italian/Polish pastes.
