Yeah,w8in, we've had some frost. I have two cherry tomatoes in containers on Mom's lawn that didn't get it. I think they will tonight. I picked the tomatoes already. Saturday, we also had some sun and topped out around 50F. I begrudgingly dragged out the long pants. Spent hours cleaning up the garden and doing prep work for next year. At midnight, we're 40F and are expecting 28F.

Had patchy frost here this morning so I had to start all the school buses and turn on the heaters/defrosters for all the drivers this morning... won't be long and I'll have to start them all every morning.

We've had some chilly weather lately, so when we hit 57F on Friday, it really felt good. I have most of the gardens put to bed and am in the early stages of yard cleanup. Walked 5km on Friday to top off a great fall day!

Beautiful sunny day here, high around 80 with a light breeze. It was perfect weather for the Fall Festival at the kids's school today - so we had big crowds. I bet the school raised a lot of money today!

Around here, we had a sunny, windy day. I was out of town today and saw golfers out on the links. Temperature was around 68F. We're expecting a few more warm days; maybe even thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday.

Monday, we were stuck in the high 50s and even had a rain shower pop up. Heard thunder as the rain passed. The sun came out afterwards. 32 miles south of here had 70 degrees. Drats!
Before 1am, it's 51F here and 66F just to the south of us. We're expecting some rain and thunder and a high of 61F for Tuesday. On Friday, only a high of 40F. Sounds like it'll be cold for the little goblins that night.

Saw our first snowflakes before noon on Halloween. They didn't stick. We had hellacious north winds that brought down the temperature and part of a tree 1 1/2 blocks from my place. Luckily, no one got in its way. Today we topped out around 40F with a brisk wind. I got out for some walking and bailed out my new rain barrel for the winter. I waited 'til near dark to do some raking as the wind had died down. The temp's already down to 25.5F before midnight. It's going to be a cold one.

Wow, you did get lots of wind! It's another beautiful and sunny day here. Currently it's in the mid-60s at about 1:20 p.m., and it will drop into the lower 40s tonight. Then we will warming back into 70s days and 50s nights for a few days. I just love October & November weather here.

Oh, but did you see the pictures of the snow in SC? They were making snowmen in the Columbia area yesterday, and they don't usually even get their first frost until Nov. 10!

Hi, dld. The City boys had to get out of their trucks and do some work. They were on the scene in a hurry sawing and trucking that tree away. I'm sure it ruined their day.

Oh, but did you see the pictures of the snow in SC? They were making snowmen in the Columbia area yesterday, and they don't usually even get their first frost until Nov. 10! Hi, Laura. Yikes! I missed that tidbit of news. We haven't even had snow stick here yet. 9O miles to the south, they had an inch of snow already. I wonder if w8in got any of that. We were in the low 20s Sunday morning and my few remaining petunias got it. We had a sunny Sunday with high 40s. I spent hours outside including raking under my cedars and by my driveway. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we're expecting temps in the 50s, so I'll be starting cleanup at Mom's yard, including the gutters. I'll be raking/bagging leaves to add to my garden next year. We'll probably get some rain on Tuesday but that will pass.

Laura, my brother was in that sc snow. Wound up with 5 inches of snow in his yard. What a surprise. Here we got a hailstorm at work that sounded like we were in a tin roof barn! Incredible! Hour later, thunder and lightening....
It is chilly outside and in! 34 outside and 56 inside, guess there wont be tomatoes fresh from the garden for thanksgiving this year... Hard freeze tonight.
Sleep warm everyone!!

Strat, having flashbacks to the last ice storm, even farther back to Hugo, (hurricane sept 89).. Glad to know no one was hurt from that tree. Hugo was my first thought when I saw your picture. Trees everywhere....

Hi, Izit. The newspaper said the tree was a maple. On a walk yesterday, I noticed that that same tree has more dead wood over the road. Could get a repeat performance. What really concerns me is the amount of dead ash trees in town that are hanging over the electric lines. The emerald ash borer has killed so many trees in Michigan. Our town and Consumers Power aren't taking precautions. There are three areas where an ice storm and a little wind might shut off our power. And to think 4O days ago that our city manager was parked out front looking at my garden because of another complaint against it.

I think I'd reciprocate with complaints about dead trees and power lines.

I think I'd reciprocate with complaints about dead trees and power lines. I began that afternoon by dropping off a picture of an illegal satellite dish across the street along with the printed ordinance that forbids it. The dish is still there. That was my 1st visit to the administrative assistant.

It is supposed to get down to 30° here tonight, so whatever peppers are still out there, I'd better check again, to see if any are salvagable. Tomatoes, EP, and most other things are already pulled out; the greens won't be bothered this temp.

Right now we are at 60 degrees F with 20 mph winds from the south. Monday's high expected to be 32 with strong north winds. Fall seems to be as crazy as spring and summer.

Well, for sure, it's the changing of the seasons. Today in mid-Michigan, we had 49F and some rain off-and-on. I was back in shorts and got out and fired up the push mower. Blew some leaves around and let the engine get good and hot. Changed the oil so I'll be ready for next year. Later, it was breezy and I got a mile walk in with a few spits of rain on my glasses. Downstate Michigan even had a 68F for a high. I hope w8in had some of those temps. Then, there's the Upper Peninsula. They've been having a winter storm for a couple days. A few locations had 24" to 25" of snow for the 2-day total. There's still a Winter Storm Warning for much of the UP with more snow in the forecast. After 11pm, we're at 36F, and we're in for below average temperatures. There's snow in our future.

Currently it's 72 and partly cloudy, heading for 75. Low tonight predicted to be 55.
This is the warmest weather we are expected to have for the next 10 days. It's too early for the forecast to be reliable, but the extended forecast shows a low of 32 for next Tuesday night. So that might be our first frost date - which would be about a week earlier than usual.

That's really cold, Paul! We're in the mid-3Os today with a few flurries blowing around. The snowstorm in the Upper Peninsula was rough. One location received a two-day total of 30.1 inches! It's a nice place to visit in the summer, but I wouldn't want to be there for this.

Wowsers Paul, that be a wee bit chilly indeed! We awoke to 41 for a low this morning, hit 71 this afternoon, but by Friday predicted high and low are 41 and 21. It is that time of year!! Spent the day pulling the last of the peppers as well as the long gone mater and other pepper plants and cleaning up the garden beds and containers. Thankful to have such a warm couple of days in mid-November to get garden chores done before cold spell sets in.

We were at 70º yesterday, 66º today, but it will be freezing by Friday, which makes sense, as that weather from the mid-west is heading this way! So I figured that I had better get a lot done these two days off I had! My greens are now covered for the winter, My kafir lime and curry trees are inside for good, my peppers are totally harvested, so it doesn't matter...as long as snow doesn't come with it!

High today was 56, but it was overcast and misting off and on all day. Ick. Upper 30s tonight, but at least the sun returns tomorrow. The forecast for next week is colder every time I look at it. They are now predicting lows of 30 Tuesday night and 29 Wednesday night. So it looks like we are going to skip the first light frost and proceed directly to the "crispy dead plants" stage this year. Still...I'd much rather have my weather than a 22F high or 30" of snow. Brrr! Stay warm, all.

5 degrees F (-15C) with a couple of inches snow on the way for Saturday. Woke up this morning at 5 am (mostly because I am old and do that every once in a while) and decided rather than force myself back to sleep, I would make cinnamon rolls and surprise my wife. It will be a good day for hot cinnamon rolls and tea for breakfast and then a mid-morning nap and settle in with a book for the rest of the day. I'm thinking lunch at El Portal (my favorite Mexican place) or maybe try the new diner. Anyway, no work today. May even whittle down the tomato and pepper list for spring. And thank my lucky stars I don't live in the UP of Michigan.
