I'm new to this site and just want to say hello. I live in a SW Chicago suburb, zone 5b, and grow tomatoes, cukes, squash, lettuce, peppers, and herbs. While my hubby and I enjoy our harvests, much is simply grown to feed the local backyard wildlife. I have quite a "zoo" in the backyard which I really enjoy watching. Due to several health issues, I am in a wheelchair and primarily grow in containers because they are easier for me to access. Gardening and nature in general are my passions. I also love cooking, canning (preserving), reading, and an occasional soap opera. Thank you for allowing me to join your web-site. Lilith

Hi there, Lilith. Welcome to NJT! What kinds of wildlife do you get in your backyard?

Glad you're here lilithwild. I look forward to reading the posts about your backyard wildlife and your container gardening. I threw a few birdhouse gourd seeds in an outside planter and I now have a vine full of tiny, green gourds growing

Welcome. I will be paying more attention to the Chicago area now since our son-in-law and granddaughter will be moving to the SE Chicago area soon. Wave as we go by on I-80 when we visit.
