As has already been mentioned, softnecks do store well.

Forever Yong usually sells out early, and the Creoles go especially fast. Apparently their reputation surpasses their production capacity. Which is good for them, but as a customer, but I hope they figure out a way to expand production while maintaining their quality standards.
If I want full selection at Forever Yong, I start haunting their site in July waiting for them to open for orders in July or August (once they have finished harvesting). Shipping starts in September (once they have finished curing).
Also, if I send the owner an email right after I order and explain that I need my garlic early so I can vernalize it before planting, they will usually send my garlic in the first wave of shipping. (Normally my zone would be the last shipped to.) That is good customer service.

While out doing some things, and enjoying the weather today, I noticed that a lot of my garlic had popped up. All of my Estonian Red garlic sprouted already, and about 2/3 of the Montana Giant are just showing. Only a couple of the Extra Hardy German Porcelain popped up, and none of the Metechi is up - no big deal, but it does seem that those that do sprout in the fall, get larger. Fall growth should be beneficial for making bigger bulbs but only to a point. I have found that fall growth is good as long as leaves do not form. Invariably here any open leaf becomes a dead leaf in the spring. Exception would be if heavy mulching. As long as they are just spears, they takeoff growing with no damage in the spring. Mine were just poking above about 4 or 5 inches of mulch today. Now being given a better mulching by Mother Nature tonight.
