@imp, I liked the Gold Marie as well but my husband wasn't impressed. He doesn't care for flat podded beans at all. So this year, I'm back to the bush type. Wish I could find a decent round podded pole wax. Also didn't like Gold Marie. Not all impressed with Cherokee Wax, either. One not mentioned but my favorite is Kentucky Wonder Wax pole bean. Grew that one off and on for probably 20 years. Great for canning alone or mixed with regular snap beans. Martin The truth is more important than the facts.

I haven't seen the Kentucky wonder wax locally for a while however, I did find them listed by a local company that has seed carousels in every hardware store for miles around. If I can't find them in stores come January when the seeds appear, I'll make the trip to their warehouse store and buy them there. Although, Bob is really like this bush variety that I am growing for 2017, and actually I am enjoying them as well. As long as the ones I've frozen maintain their quality in the freezer, I'll make the room for them in the garden. We will know long before the new year whether that's the case and whether I even have to concern myself about a wax pole bean. www.adaptiveseeds.com/product/vegetables/beans/bush-snap-bean-pisarecka-zlutoluske-organic/Thanks for the remind Martin.

I decided not to plant any yellow beans this year. When picking some Tender Green Bush Beans, I discovered that I have some Yellow Beans mixed in. They have purple markings and look like Dragon Tongue Beans. I cooked some on Monday and they were really good. I wish I knew for sure what they were. I would like to grow them again. I will try and save from seed, but I always have difficult saving bean seeds. The weather always turns cold and wet too soon.

janr,I bought Pisarecka Zlutoluske from Heritage Harvest Seed in MB last fall on the recommendation of a friend who has a large garden and does a lot of trading. She was correct. Great producer, excellent flavour. I didn't save seed this year, as I ordered enough for a two year supply, but if I'd left the vines up I"m certain they would have dried in time.

I got some Meraviglia Di Venezia beans (a yellow romano type) in a trade, but was not impressed with them. Much slower than most bush beans, less productive, and was very prone to rust, even spraying a prophylactic spray (KHCO3) on it. This was a bad bean year for me, as something (birds?) attacked them, pulling them out of the ground as they would germinate, and just leave them! I eventually got them growing, but nothing like most years.

One way I always liked the Gold Marie bean , besides just eating them, was to do a dilly bean with both gold Marie's and the green romano flat beans mixed. That comes out very well, at least to me. I do up the garlic and short the dill a tad, and add thinly sliced onions too.

I just got some Gold Marie in a seed trade. I'm looking forward to trying them and finding out if I am in the "love them" or "hate them" camp. I like wax beans in general, though. So odds are good that I will like Gold Marie.

I like a yellow bean called Roquencourt. I also like green beans called Haricots Vert which are French filet beans so they are very skinny and tender. The Roquencourt are just like the Haricots vert in size and shape but are yellow.
They are both bush beans and fairly prolific. I like to cook them both together for some visual interest.

I like to mix the green and yellow beans together. This year I'll sow a planting of Roma II (green) and Capitano (yellow). Later a planting of Maxibel (green) and Soleil (yellow).

I like to mix the green and yellow beans together I like to mix them together too. I do a short row of each and then about 3 weeks later I plant another short row of each.
