Pictures taken on Mother's Day at Mom's place. Out the Living Room window, here's a Baltimore Oriole with his beak stuck in the orange on the Log Cabin. Another view of him. A Red-bellied Woodpecker taking his turn. The red on its chest is showing up quite nicely. Out the kitchen window, a couple Rose-breasted Grosbeaks on the Flying Saucer with a wary Downy Woodpecker on the suet cake.

This afternoon, in the back yard at Mom's, I caught this window peeper looking in the kitchen window. The Great Blue Heron must have been visiting the neighbor's pond and came to inspect the bird feeders. I'm not sure who was startled the most, him or me.

Beautiful. Always thought the herons were majestic birds!

I was shocked to see that huge guy out the window.
My brother is the big-time birder in our family, so I called him. He said the heron would have been looking for those little toads we see in the yard.

On September 17th, we had a herd of turkeys in Mom's back yard. Just as well that I hadn't uncovered my tomatoes yet from the night before. Would have been my luck that they would have walked by sampling the green tomatoes. I can see two turkeys in the shade. Here are four turkeys with blue heads. The same four. Unfortunately, I leaned in near the screen and the camera focused on that. There are seven turkeys including one lying down in a sandy spot. That one might have been getting a dust bath and some grit for digestion. I got a kick out of it when the four turkeys on the right jumped one-by-one over the antenna tower, lol.

It was fun! Here's a couple pics from around 5.30p. The other day I saw the mottled Mourning Dove and got pictures today. I like seeing the variations in the coloring of the doves; eg. white tail feathers, etc.

Here is a picture this afternoon of the mottled Mourning Dove in Mom's back yard. It is a dull day so it's a little hard to see. Notice the dark "normal" doves feeding near it and a Slate- Colored Junco on the snow pile.

Your beautiful bird pictures made me want to share one too. Here is a little baby mockingbird I found. His face just cracks me up. He looks completely peeved with the whole situation. I don't really blame him. I mean, his Mamma told him if he would be very still and quiet, nobody would find him. But here I come, snooping around with my camera...

I'm just glad you didn't say it reminded you of your Grandma with the bushy brows.
