Monday, we had a low of 68F after .1" of rain in the night. In the daytime, the temp got up to 83F and the Summer sun is still hot. After dark, I sat out in my drive and played guitar with the cicadas singing.

Isaac has sucked in a lot of dry air on the east side and not strengthened as much as was forecast, so we're not even getting rain here. 88F now (11:35 a.m.), partly cloudy and breezy. Ordinarily torrential rains extend hundreds of miles to the east of a landfalling hurricane, so yesterday our local officials decided to cancel school for today. But now it looks like the kids may get to go swimming in the pool on their "hurricane day." Needless to say, they're happy. ;D

HOT and dry here on the Cdn prairies for a few days. Getting worse, too. S'posed to be 91 F. But that makes the tomatoes ripen like crazy.

At 10:30 am here in SW La., it is breezy, low humidity, a little cloudy-no rain yet. Isaac is moving so slow, we may not get rain! I'll have a yard full of pine cones, though.

That's great, Catgrass! Hopefully, all our friends along the gulf coast faired as well as you! I, of course, decided to begin working on my fall garden this week - and we are getting the blow-torch effects of Isaac. Temps this week ranging from 102* to 109*. Rain? Nary a drop.

Izz-you must be in south Texas! Or near. This morning, a light drizzly rain, not lasting long, wind has died down to normal-just cloudy. I have lots of pine cones and plants lying sideways-but all is good here-not so for those to my east. Wow, still torrential rains-and floods. Floods are horrible. So much debris, dead animals-if you're on the coast, dead fish. I remember after Rita, it stunk so bad for WEEKS! You couldn't escape it. Praying for those in East La. and Mississippi!

The heat is back and the breeze is almost gone. It's partly to mostly cloudy and sticky. The temp is only 90 but with a heat index of 101. Which is exactly the way August is supposed to end around here.

Friday was 90F and humid. The air was quite still and I sat out in the shade. When I got back from my walk around 9.30p, it was still 76F out.

Here is the screen grab from the NWS of our 24hr Droppler radar rainfall estimates. Reporting stations are giving numbers higher than seen here. Amazing how quickly God can deal with a drought. It isn't going to end things but really helps. Good thing is it doesn't seem to be running off. The Ground is soaking up the rain like DLD would to bacon at an all you can eat bacon buffet. The places I grow are: - To the left of the "O" of "Overland Park"
- just above the "la" of "Overland"
- just above the "it" of "Kansas City"

Still no break in the triple-digits. I nearly choked on my spit when I heard the weatherman announce we are going to have a cold front here on Sunday. In September!! Only if you're standing under an a/c vent. He must be delirious from too much sun. Meanwhile, I'll check on my stash of bok choi and lettuce seeds.

This morning at 6:45 am it was 80 degrees with 75% humidity-kinda sticky! We're supposed to have a "cool" front, too! This weekend will cool down to 90 during the day, with overnight lows in upper 60's! NOW, I'll plant radish & lettuce & spinach!

Yesterday, we got a little rain. We had low 80s and humid. Around noon, the county 10 minutes South had a Severe Thunderstom Warning. After suppertime, we had a Severe Thunderstom Warning. Luckily there was no damage around here.
Today, I've seen 80F and it's humid.

Had a magnificent rain yesterday and more forcast for this evening and tomorrow. The last gasp of our monsoon, I'm ready for the humidity to lift and the return of dry heat. Worked in the garden all morning pulling weeds and getting it ready for fall planting. Highs forecast in the 90's the next few days, a real treat after the brutal August we've had. I'm ready for cooler weather!

Getting some rain today. Lots of thunder. Hasn't rained enough to more than wet the surface good yet, but rain is now forecast for next few days.
The garden is standing at attention today.

Much as I like crow, I'm gonna have to pass - I'm vegetarian. We've had two cold fronts in two weeks. Guess I'll just eat my hat. Might be a good idea to start thinking how I'm gonna keep all that stuff growing in the event we get a freeze this year. Might even have to buy a coat if it gets real bad! It's already down in the low 90's!! Yesterday, we had a luxuriously grey, drizzly day. This is such a rare event here, and we didn't have to wait til February (when everything is already dead) for it. Wonders never cease!

Monday we had 77F, so I had the fan in the window to heat the house. Tonight, I was out for a walk before 10p and it still was around 69F. I could feel some solar heat from a couple old brick buildings in town. At 1a, it's still at 63.5F. We may get some rain tonight, then Tuesday night we may be around 36F. Time to get ready for frost. Edit: Since it was so warm out the last couple nights, I sat out in the dark and played acoustic guitar to the cicadas and crickets. Might not be many more chances with Fall coming...

We made it through the cold night. Got down to 37F. 61.5F in the house.
Today, we had 63F for a high and I was out a bit. Had some showers, but we could use a real rain. Looks like tonight we'll get some.
Before midnight, it's 54F out.

Morning fog is just about burned off now at 9:30 a.m. The current temp is 73, heading for upper 80s with partly cloudy skies. Though the afternoons are still pretty warm these days (upper 80s), the nights are down into the sixties finally. The cooler mornings are nice.

Sunday we only got up to the high 50's. We had some lake-effect rain showers blow through and even some sleet. I saw a rainbow.
Currently, it's 39F and we're under a Frost Advisory again.
