Ellie, You can be responsible for what you write but you don't have to be responsible for the way others misinterpret it. that picture reminds me of the pirate supply store in san francisco they sell small posters like that.

So.... No news on why they took the forum down and parked the domain?
My posts were all being moderated... Me with a thousand posts...
Not sure what that was about... And red zone never answered when I sent him a pm...
Maybe they got tired of all the complaining...

I think they got tired of it a few years ago

I had found in recent months that many, if not most of the new post I saw on idig were political. This is why my posts almost disappeared in the last 6 months or so, despite them having to have gotten the spam problem under control. So it didn't surprise me when it was gone.

I didn't realize it was gone until I saw these posts. My IP address was banned for no reason that I could discern a while back, but when my DH got a new router we had a new IP address and I could access the forum again.
But when I went back I saw what Dave observed: most of the activity was political and even threads outside of the political forum that should have been noncontroversial often ended in flames. It wasn't long before I quit visiting again.
It's a shame, because it could have been a really useful forum - Baker Creek's publicity attracted a lot of people, so there was a really big user base. But then again, the downside of attracting a lot of people to a forum is that inevitably some of those people will turn out to be trolls or flamers.

IDig is down? I'll be damned! Seems only yesterday that I left in disgust after almost 10 years. That was always the strangest lot anywhere on the Internet. Someone would show up thinking that he or she knew everything and rile everyone. If one went away for a few months, that person would be gone and someone else trying to be the boss rooster.
As for T'ville, I was one of many who were automatically blocked before it even existed. My brother did register in both Garden Web and T'ville. As soon as one particular woman found out that he was my brother, banned without making a single posting.

Paquebot: So far as I know and have been able to gather, the only banner at T'ville is the owner of the site. Sometimes he goes overboard with his emotions, but I would rather have a tightly run ship than be like iDig. 99.9% of the Tville folks are kind and generous. That means there are a very few who slipped in to make trouble. If you want to join the group there I'll bet an email request would do it. Mischka is a reasonable person who is protective of his site.
NJT is a star in the forum sky with nobody getting out of line. I have never heard of anyone being banned here or read contentious posts. This is a pleasant place to visit.

Mischka is NOT a reasonable person and never was in the years that I've known him! That's why he was one of few banned from IDig. To many, including myself, he was a crook who failed to deliver products after gardeners had paid for them. This was 10-12 years ago and there is no indication that the situation has changed. No good reason to think that he changed after creating TV. Ask all of those masses who went off and formed new tomato forums after being banned. There are GW posts from 2002=2004 which show how vicious he can be. He had a particular hatred for certain members or those who were their friends. Don't make me go back and find some posts where even Quean Carolyn thought that he went overboard.

Well, apparently IDig is up for sale on ebay, and if you want all your account, including all personal messages, email and other contact information deleted you need to go to this thread and ask for it to be removed before it is sold... I Dig... .

Thanks for posting that here, Rich. I've already deleted my PMs and all of the personal information that I could from my profile, changed my email address to an invalid one, and asked them to delete my account. If they didn't want to run the forum any more, I wish they would have shopped it privately to reputable forum hosts or other garden companies. Failing that, I think they should have just left it shut down. I think that Ebaying the forum - including the email addresses, real names, and other personally identifiable information of its users - is just wrong. It's not illegal, but I think it is a breach of trust. I can't believe that it didn't occur to them that hackers, spammers, and other unsavory folks might want to buy the personally identifiable information of thousands of forum members! Maybe my worries are unfounded and a good company that is genuinely interested in gardening and gardeners will pick up the forum. But since the are selling the forum in this manner, there's no guarantee. I just hope they keep their promise to delete the accounts of members who've requested deletion before the sale goes through.

I think you correct in being skeptical. I think everyone who was ever a part of that forum will be spammed or even worse. It was, in my opinion, poorly run and now poorly disposed of. If the name was to be sold, all information should have been deleted and just the domain put up for auction. Jere may know seeds but it seems like his head is in the sand on this one.

it could have been dealt with way better...
I would not want my account deleted, I set a unique password, already had an invalid email address set got rid of my personal info as well anyway, now I have access pretty much no matter who buys it, and have no personal risk with it.

It's sold. Now it's part of Tomatoville. Mischka bought it.

Oh well I will be banned again if Mishka has it. I'm not sure coppice , but I don't think he has banned anyone as of yet... He thought as most of us did that there was a lot of info there that would have gotten lost... so I thank him for getting and securing all that info.
