brownrexxWife, Mom and I did it pretty quick. We had to sneak out between showers. Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted the next several days.

That will be perfect for settling that new soil.

ladymarmalade , pepperhead212 , Laura_in_FL , hairymooseknuckles , brownrexx , I am sure liking this raised bed. We just received a pretty heavy rain and water was rushing across our road. My babies are just fine. If they had been in the ground, they would be dead or washed over into the next county. I have a couple of ones that aren't up to snuff yet, but they looked weak before the rain set in. Overall, I'm really impressed! I needs more of them. Me likey! Oh and before someone wonders what I'm up to, the cardboard is protecting my just sowed carrots.

Looks fabulous hairymooseknuckles! Just wait until you go out to "weed the garden" and it takes you a whole 30 seconds to do the whole bed because they are so easy to find and the soil is so loose.

Three x 10 or Four x 10 both work for me. A friend in Dallas has room only for Two x 10.
One thing I do a differently. I only raise the beds 12 inches.

caesg, I'm not gardeing this year, at least not yet. The neighbor and I visited a little while last night and he couldn't believe It. The poor fellow went home and brought me back 8 beautiful tomato plants. I think Mom and Wify are going to set them out this weekend. Now I do have some onions, garlic and grape hyacinths, but they take care of themselves. I Kinda lost interest after my back gave me so much trouble last year. Thanks for asking.

hairymooseknuckles, ah! I missed that these were posted in 2018, and not 2019. Also, I should've remembered from your comments on the "When do you stop?" thread. That's a kind neighbor you've got! One of my co-gardeners at the community garden recently had back surgery. She makes a point to garden when others are around, as she'll sometimes get stuck in a position and need help to get up. Doctor's given her permission for garden in 15 minute increments between 30 minute breaks. Thanks for hanging around to share your knowledge. Are you developing a new hobby (or allowing an existing hobby to grow) to take up the space previously put towards gardening?

caesg, Sort of I suppose. I'm in the planning stages of ways to garden without bending over. Not a big garden area mind you, just a small raised bed on legs. I have a real old metal table that I may work into the equation. Not sure yet. Hopefully by next year, I can have a few plants. I'm not sure I could teach anyone anything. My methods would probably make you scratch your head. I've always been the experimenter. That's why I've always tried to grow varieties that might not be suitable for my area. Most of the time those methods and varieties don't work either, but it is fun. Right now we are so busy. Dr Appointments galore. One of us is always in the Dr's office. The weather is pretty bad here too. All last month it was rainy and at the moment the wind is howling and it's coming a toad floater. Mr. Toad just floated by and waved at me, I think I saw a cane pole laying on his Lilly Pad.
