Cats are worthless! Though I must admit about a month ago one of mine brought and almost full grown bunny to the window and wanted in.. He dropped it, undamaged, and it scampered away.
I like the idea of apples in the traps - that bait would last longer than lettuce. Around here, the natural greenery is dying back. About the only things green now are some weeds, the shrubs and.... my garden!
I watched a YouTube video of someone composting a cow. Pretty impressive. I don't compost the bunnies or squirrels, but I have no problem composting dead snails.

I should send you my old cat! He likes nothing better than a rabbit and usually will eat part of it and leave the rest by our door if it's a bigger one. It is rather sad and gruesome to see just the little baby feet left of the smaller baby bunnies.
Our rabbits go in cycles, I have not seen one yet this year, even took down the chicken wire surround around my lettuce bed for planting, and have not had to put it back up, knock on wood! The foxes have been seen on our driveway, so no doubt are clearing out the rabbits.
