stratcat, did you guys build that building from the ground up? I ask because during the summer our old, red barn, which was gigantic, was hit by tornadoes 2 days in a row on the same side. We weren't home either day and it appeared as though the tornadoes took an almost identical path on both days except the 2nd day our gigantic apple tree that was behind the barn was shredded to mulch. Our insurance company, which forced us to ensure the barn, refused to pay more than a few thousand dollars, so with labor and material we didn't get the barn back to being really sturdy. Then the other week the snow crashed it almost totally in, and even though we were still paying the same amount in insurance premiums on that barn, they again don't want to give us enough to totally rebuild it. It will take around $40,000.00 to rebuild the size we had so we're going to go with something different. What do you mean when you say pole barn? We're hoping to be able to use some of the wood we save from the old barn.

Looking for a route from Florida back to Nebraska that bypasses Atlanta. Right now the plan is to go to the panhandle then north through Alabama up to Nashville toward St. Louis and then west.

Here's a view looking East on 10 October, 2011, followed by a view looking South the same day. Third picture is the next day setting trusses. I'm scared of heights; I stayed out of the trusses and off the roof.

Same day setting the trusses and running out of daylight. The last picture has the full moon coming up behind the ladder. Reminds me, my 17' ladder is still there.

Everyone was fine so that was great.

With the cold temperatures we're having, can't be waiting on that fuel truck. We had 1F this morning and snow flurries this afternoon. I take it you have a wood stove? Me, I was at the oral surgeon in Saginaw today.

stratcat, hope the surgeon didn't hurt you too badly. w8in, glad you can stay warm for a while longer. Thanks. The surgeon is great; this was my 3rd time with him. He extracted the tooth without any cutting and I haven't had as much as an aspirin in the 24 hours since, knock on wood. Isn't hurting. W8in-good to hear you're keeping warm. We're in for another couple cold nights. Could be 1F for us over here tonight.

This morning our group played music for the Senior Citizens Mothers Day deal out in Gladwin. Blue Coyote played for an hour and we finished with a singalong: Leadbelly's Goodnight Irene. We had some 60-year old guy sitting with his back towards us. His shirt was up exposing about 4 inches of his rear. He was four feet in front of my brother. Remember kids, Crack Kills. I had an hour to come up with a lick for Moon River to throw in a song, but it didn't dawn on me until I had a nap tonight.

Sounds like fun stratcat. I keep forgetting that I'm a senior citizen at 62. Hope I'm not sitting around showing 4 inches of my rear. Better pull up my pants.

Yeah, bestofour, we had fun. When we played at this meal site for the Halloween Party in 2010, a couple over 90-year olds dressed up. Our drummer and I also will be turning 62 this year. My little brother is bringing up the rear and will be 58. Hey, they make Plumbers T-shirts!

Today I chased a BIG box turtle around my back yard, or rather walked, a BIG box turtle around and out of the gate of my back yard. My dog, Andy, was having a fit and from the upstairs window I could by the way he was acting that something was in the yard. It was a big turtle. I put Andy in his pen in the hopes the turtle would come out of his shell and go back out the gate. He started for the gate a few times but would turn around and head back toward the house. I called animal control to see about picking him up and was told if he was a she and happened to be looking for a place to lay eggs I might get bitten and the turtle would probably bite my dog if given the chance. I got the hoe and moved him to outside the fence.
Our barn got crash in so we've been working on taking it down. Johnny brought in an old bottle he dug up out there and put it in the sink. When I went to wash it I noticed there was a copperhead in it. Needless to say that copperhead is now headless.

We had to take down our barn that was built in 1928. We found that it was supported by nothing but rocks. It was a gigantic barn so it's amazing it stood this long. We used some of the rocks to line our driveway.

Wednesday morning, our group, B lue Coyote, played at a Senior Citizen meal site for an hour. The occasion was a 94th birthday party for our friend, Nelson. The music was pretty good as was the birthday cake and ice cream. I got lucky on bottleneck guitar on a couple tunes. We had two singalongs: You Are My Sunshine and Goodnight, Irene. We also played Happy Birthday. Four years ago, we played for Nelson's 9Oth.

This morning is Flower Show day in a town close by. My wife is dragging me through another thunderstorm to help set up the hall for the show. Later I am judging the show, giving a presentation on heirloom/OP tomatoes and other gardening tips as a Master Gardener, serving lunch to the ladies, giving another presentation on fall gardening in England and Scotland, then putting away all the tables and chairs and helping clean up. A long boring day when I would rather stay in bed.
