I have one that is a cross.
It is striped tioga x black beauty
A couple of years ago, i did a trade for some striped tioga eggplant. When we grew the seed out, most were the striped tioga, but a very small % were the cross.

I received seeds for Christmas from an eggplant that is thought to be a cross betwixt a Black Beauty and one with lots of ribbing? I suspect it might just be a large Italian variety from the description? I guess I'll see what they look like when I grow them out this year?

I've been giving that a thought, as last year my eggplants just sat in the soil and did nothing all year and the flea beetles finally ate the leave up to a point that they died. They were a real waste of space, the year before they grew over 3ft and produced lots of foot long fruit. This year I plan on growing five new varieties to see how well they do. I might try crossing some just to see what I get. I have some Thia purple egg that I might use as its very productive. George W.
