Anyone here doing the crosses on purpose ! What are you looking for in the cross?

I don't bag the peppers, and I do save the seeds, so with what I am growing, so I guess I am looking for very hot and sweet bell peppers, not sure the insects will manage to get them to cross though,

I think this involves something like taking the blossoms before they open, and removing the pollen from one to pollinate the other before it can self-pollinate.
This is why I only buy seeds for hybrids, if I want them!

Capsaicin is the hot part of a pepper. It is systemic. peppers that have larger amounts of capsaicine, might also have a fairly high sugar content, but you'll never notice it over through the heat.

I can see crossing Peter with something. They were the most vigorous and fast growing plants I ever saw and then they didn't do much in the garden. But it was a funny year.
