Which do you think has the stronger "burn your tongue" flavor, hardneck or softneck garlic?

DLD, ask around at your local farmers market. Really, I've bought my biggest bulb-stock there at a fraction of what it costs to mail-UPS garlic. Spice and heat are nice, but size matters. I've had it take 3 to 4 years of selecting for bigger bulbs, to get what I got for a couple bucks at my farmers market. If you want your garlic to bite back, the farmer will sell it to you.

Hardnecks are usually the hottest but each variety has its own degree of taste. Creoles and Asiatics generally are hotter than Rocamboles or Porcelains and Purple Stripes but exceptions to each.

yes exceptions are the rule with garlic, generally among hardnecks, it goes purple stripe, porcelain, rocambole, but i have grown mild rocamboles and very hot porcelains.
