Here we love and grow them every year, but hardly anyone talks about them, anyone know why they fell out of everyones favorite list?

I likes them. Black Beauty is a good, reliable producer, (drum roll) that my family will eat.

Black Beauty is what I grow, mostly. Like Coppice said, good producer. I like big, round eggplant that I can slice and fry or make eggplant parmesean with. AND since they are so prolific 2 plants are all I need.

After trying a different one this year, it's what I'm going back to. I guess I could spend the rest of my life trying different vegetables but I really just want to grow those that I KNOW I like and that do well for me, so...Black Beauty it is

OrganicBaby, so do I. I know what I like, I know what I can grow well, and I just don't have the inclination to change! However, I did grow a LemonBoy tomato and it was good, and not hard to grow, but, I'll stick with Better Boy and Celebrity. B O R I N G.

Organicbaby I'm just going to have to sneak out to your garden and plant a strange eggplant next spring.

I tried some that was small and red, orange and cream colors, they were very sharp. Very small too many to peel is there another way to prepare them.

we have a variety we raised last year for the first time. I do not know the name...came from an Indian friend...and the package is in their dialect, it resembles a black beauty, but is about half the size when fully mature... no bitterness...
We/I have grown nothing but Rosa Bianca for years .

When would be the best time to plant Black Beauties in north ga zone?

I would wait until night time temps are in the 50's or higher. That's how I gauge planting mine. Eggplant like it hot.
