Mine was my Thai pepper from saved seeds. Also liked Siling Haba from Adobo and Hungarian Wax. Also like the hybrid Pinnochio's Nose.

Impossible to pick a best out of 19, esp. with those Thai peppers producing like they do! The fresno and Ixtapa also did a good job, but the lombak (an Indonesian, similar in appearance to a long hot/cayenne, but much better flavor, and good green, red, or dried) probably produced the most volume-wise out of all my peppers, and it is still going! I picked all full size green and ripe peppers last Tuesday - 10-11 - since I was leaving for vacation, and upon returning and checking the peppers in 8 days, the lombak had at least 2 dozen ripe again, and a bunch more full size and smaller green! A good number of fresno and jalapeños, as well, but few reds.
The lombaks are not too hot, and delicious in Malaysian and Indonesian dishes, in place of the Holland long hots in those recipes.
Another good pepper, or I should say discovery, this year, was that the seeds I saved from Thai Nippon Taka, listed as a hybrid for years in Pinetree Garden seeds, grew true, which was great, as they dropped it, and it is one of my favorite Thai peppers. It grows in clusters, and is about 60k - hotter and better flavor than others I have found that grow in clusters, such as Bangkok Upright, and it is also one of the earliest.

This year I planted Cowhorn. I like them a lot. Good, long pepper, hot, but not overhot. Last year, I planted Jalapenoes. I only plant one, because they are always so prolific here, and being one person, that's way more than I need!

My best hot pepper this year had to be Aji Crystal, which I'd gotten from SSE. The flavor was great- hot, slightly citrusy, but it was the texture that was amazing. It was crisp-juicy, like the best apple you've ever eaten.
Sadly, I only had one plant of these this year. Next year there will be several more.

I actually got two harvests off of this one plant. In Wisconsin, that doesn't always happen. The first harvest I plucked about 8 good sized peppers off, noticed the blossoms and sadly thought they'd never reach maturation. Call me shocked when a few weeks later I glanced at the plant and saw full sized peppers again. They grew fast! And the second harvest was just as delicious and crispy as the first. I harvested them yellow, as SSE recommended to do so for best flavor. www.seedsavers.org/Details.aspx?itemNo=942I should also add that shortly after I put this plant in the ground, it got nibbled on by a rabbit, and I doubted I would get any peppers from it at all. It charged back, and while I still had a small plant, I can't wait until next year when I can give it another go with more plants that should reach their full size.

daylilydude. Aji Crystal was very productive for me. We have hot and humid summers, so it should do well in Mississippi.

One of my husband's favorites was the numex twilight peppers. I had never heard of or seen these before, but I picked the plant up from a local grocery store and quickly came home and googled. These things were extremely hot. I couldn't take the heat of them, but they are a keeper for my husband.

My best producer was Joe E Parker, plant was absoulutely loaded with peppers. I can't take a lot of heat but my husband liked them, I gave some to a friend and he said some weren't as hot as others. I had a ton of jalapenos on one plant but they were tiny, trying jalapeno m this year as I've heard they're bigger. DH likes them pickled.

I think you'll be happy with Jalapeno M. That's the one I've grown for the last 2-3 years. They aren't huge, but a decent sized jalapeno. I usually get a few that are small, a few that are really big, and tons that are good sized. A good producer too. I'm growing it again this year (seedlings are under the lights now).
