Chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes. All the above goes on my list as well. Gumbo? Us northern boys don't think of gumbo as comfort food, but we may as well give it a try. Does that have okra in it? And if that is left out, then what is it called?

Gumbo with Okra in it is more common in the New Orleans area than in SW La. Chicken and sausage gumbo, or plain chicken gumbo, or shrimp gumbo or seafood gumbo (with shrimp, crab and oysters). I like okra gumbo, too, but there is a difference. Still called gumbo, either way!

LOL, believe it or not, pretty much any raw fruit or vegetable that can be eaten fresh (unlike say quince or potatoes that require cooking). I love snacking on fresh snap peas, carrots, berries, nuts, cherry tomatoes. I like to snack while I read so things that don't require utensils are what I go for first.

Unfortunately just about any food gives me comfort, as does cooking it. BUT if I'm sick or feeling down: 1 mac and cheese 2 grilled cheese 3 pretzels and sour cream 4 tapioca

Another vote for chicken noodle soup & freshly baked bread. Stuffing and gravy is another favorite. Others not mentioned, meatloaf & mashed potatoes, apple pie, apple dumplings, blueberry muffins. Yeah, I totally load up on carbohydrates.

Ok, I'll have to agree with gardencrazy re: leftover Thanksgiving stuffing. I like to have it for breakfast, so I make a lot of extra.
