The crazy things have started falling over, and they are still green? I checked for footprints in the garden and just don't see any? Do they fall over before turning brown?

Sometimes they do. Did they have a chance to bulb up?

Mine are doing the same thing! I thought maybe it was due to the wind (strong winds in Central TX last few weeks), but my leeks seem fine.
The onions have bulbed up some, so I've pulled most of them...any ideas anyone?

Besides flirting with frost bite when setting out seed late in winter? In addition to side dressing, mulching, and watering (as needed) onion?
For me onion, carrot, and celery are small footed and need a second year sifted garden to start with.
If your (french) intensive raised garden bed is well fed and you have the temperment to actually stick a finger into dirt to check for moisture. Alliums are easier crops to get a handle of than say celery.
In frosty new england where weather can go from hard frozen ground to 100°F temperatures in four weeks (on a really bad year), southern growers aught to have a longer season to get nice sized onion if they are agressive early in the season to plant out.

There is no worry about onions falling over. Let them be, you'll get larger bulbs!

Some fall over, some don't. If they're bulbing up, don't worry about them. I pull mine when they're half out of the ground and I can see how big they are.

DLD, what kind of onions are you growing?
My potato onions this year did that (supposedly, that's a sign to dig the PO)...I dug them up and they hadn't done squat.

Did you pull one to see what it looked like? Nope, but they do look like the bulbs are getting bigger, as I can see more onion bulb popping above ground level.
