I haven't tried this, but they say you can make flower pots out of them!

One agricultural fair I used to participate in actually had a competition class in floral design using unusual containers like discarded footwear.

You can use a childs pair of rubber boots, just drill a couple holes in the bottom for drainage.

Wash the sneaks in the machine and use some bleach to kill fungus/bacteria/yucch. Run the rinse cycle a few times and then dry in the sun. Now tak a hammer and nail and hammer it to a fence. You hammer it through the sole by the heel. It's kinda like making the sneaker into a wall pocket. If you want you can add a few poke holes to the toe for drainage. YOu can now either fill the shoe with some soil and grow a flower, or leave it empty and you've got an instant birdhouse. Might take a few weeks for a tenant to show up--but I think that may be because it takes a few days for the sun and fresh air to neutralize any lingering scents that were'nt killed or masked by the clorox, and then the clorox has got to whiff off too. But the sneak lasts a long time outisde.

That is just wonderful looking. It looks like one of Hubs old sneaks, but beyond that, it shows that succulents are semi-evergreen in winter. Behold the power of suc. LOL.

I planted Kalanchoe in my husband's old work boots but didn't get a picture. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring them inside when it got so cold so now I have frost bitten Kalanchoe. I'm gonna do it again when the weather warms up, if it evand will post pictures. They did well all through summer, fall, and early winter. Wish I wouldn't have forgotten them
