I use them for fermenting my tomato seeds in, easy to clean the stink out when finished too.

They are also the right size to store many dried herbs/spices.

That fermenting seeds in these little jars is a grand idea, takes up far less space. I'm a new granny so I have access to baby food jars, well not a lot of them but just enough to make them into spice and herb jars. I spray painted the tops with chalk board paint then glued a 2 inch magnet to the base as I have a metal back splash behind my cooker so all my herbs and spices are within reach while cooking.Would have liked to post a photo but I don't see how to on the board.

Yes, Welcome Cornishwoman to NJT! I love that idea, but have a question, do the spices dry out and get caked up being that close to a heat source?

Good point, mine seem to be fine so far, they have been up there for almost 6months now and now I have a few more to add, 3 different sorts of dried basil and 3 different mints for winter cooking. I tend to use the front rings more than the back ones so maybe that's a factor. My first idea was to cover a cork board in flashing and hang it near my working surface but seeing as I have the metal splash back I went with that. Thanks for the welcome.
