I've been working on getting some Bhut Jolokia to germinate for me, and am not having good luck so far. Mine have been under the soil for two weeks now, and nada.
I'm going to try again with some Pro-Mix instead of the seed starting mix I currently have.
Just curious if anyone else is growing a superhot this year. I might just be insane to try growing Ghost Peppers, but I am so curious about the flavor, I think the only way I'll get to try one is to grow one.
Though, I don't plan on eating it straight up. My pepper has a date with the salsa pot.

We have ghost peppers going. My hubby likes to make his own spices and he does use the super hots for the bravest spice users.

Well, I had 8 ghost peppers sprout... now I'm not sure what to do with them all! One will go in the ground, one will go into a pot for a wintering over experiment, one will go to a friend... maybe two will go in the ground. That still leaves 4 plants that will need homes this spring. Lol.
I didn't expect 100% germination.

I'm going to try to get the people who bought plants from me to pre-order this year. People will drive a ways for Bhut plants. I need to start more this year.

My entry in the superhot category is Bonda Ma Jackques, from Martinique. It produced well last year on large plants.
Other chinense vars I'm growing: Hot Paper Lantern (early), Golden Bullet (lots of small fruits, huge plant), and Carmine (which looks like fatali, but more vigorous)

This was the first year for about 20 (or however long ago it came out) I haven't grown red savinas, and I missed them! Bhut jolokias are simply too hot to use in large enough quantity for flavor, and two habs I grew were simply late, and not as good in flavor as others, leaving me with just the gold bullets - good, but not as good as the red savinas.
