As long as the soil drains well, my guess is they will be just fine. My grandad grew competition leeks for the local ag shows,he always flooded the leek bed out. Welcome to this forum

Standing water can't be good for any allium, is there enough slope to put in a drainage ditch?

Growing competition leeks is a serious business an obsession. The sabotage of leeks is also an obsession and widespread in England,I kid you not.I have know blokes that will camp out in their veg plot just before a big competition just in case the slashers come a calling, said slashers will just slash the tops off competition leeks ,course this is not about food its about the prize money which can reach hundreds of pounds. If your looking for competition leek seeds be prepared to pay up for them, back in the day my grandad paid a whopping 25 pounds for just a few seeds. The leek emblem, according to legend , Welsh born Saint David made Welsh soldier's wear a leek on their helmet's when they went into battle against the pagan Saxon's,legend also states the battle was held in a leek field,I'm not sure about this legend ,seeing as David was such a simple man and very frugal I cant see him wasting food to adorn helmets for battle.I grow leeks ,not for competition,I don't grow them yearly ,this year is leek year, always have to rally myself to do it as I know its such a long wait till I can eat them.
