Silver Queen is an excelent choice.
I'm hoping to get Alan Bishops; Astronomy Domini in big enough grow outs to stabilise.

Since I know nothing 'bout growin no corn, and decided to try to grow some this spring on a late whim, I picked up a packet of Early Sunglow hybrid. Supposed to be about a 60 day corn that only grows 4' tall and gives 2 ears per stalk.
I figure if it works, then fantastic. If not, I'm only tying up the space for about 2 months. It'll also give me some experience with corn before getting more adventurous with it next time.
Anybody have any advice about growing a 2nd crop of corn down south in the furnace? I figure most of my maters will get pulled by end of July and I could try a late corn crop in part of that area.

Water heavily and mulch thickly. I dunno what the upper threshhold temperature is when corn will not germinate, but there might be one.

Thank you Coppice, I'll see if I can find anything on limits of temps for corn germination. That well could be relevant at 100F +.

Have planted Yukon Supreme, Golden Bantam, and Ruby. They should mature in that order. Space remaining for either more Golden Bantam or Golden Jubilee.
