For the last two days, I've been losing foliage on a tomato plant. Last night, I had the flashlight out and didn't see anything. Today (Monday), I dug the plant up and inspected around the root ball. Then I potted it up in a big container. I dug around the hole and found the culprit. Here he is in his yoghurt cup.

Many think that cutworms only cut off plants. Those which do are the very minority. There are some which even venture up into trees at night and then return to hide in the soil during the day. The few that I have here, luckily, are not ones which bother any vegetable plants.
