These pictures are from July, 2011, in front of my house. There was about a 30 meter span of flowers that popped up in the crack between the asphalt and the concrete curb. A Gloriosa Daisy and an Elephant Head Amaranth. Here's a closeup. Hey, Penny. I see a finger, eh?

Lots of Gloriosa Daisies. I can see some Petunias in the shade. And a closeup of the Petunias. I was lucky to get a picture and I knew it. They got pulled soon thereafter.

Here are some nice variations. A couple of them may have some Orange Coneflower (Rudbeckia Fulgida) in them. I see a Blue Vervain on the left.

That's very cool Strat! Amazing that their roots can support them in such a confined crack of dirt.

Thanks, TDD! God must have watered plenty in 2011 for those flowers to thrive in the crack like they did.
The ones that popped up this year were quite stunted with the lack of rain. Had some Gloriosa Daisies pop up in the lawn near the curb. Even one Coneflower, hehe!

The variations are really interesting. I especially like the one in the middle with the little dot on each petal. So cute!

Thanks, LinFl. Variety is the spice of life! Hey, Gixx. Can't argue with Mother Nature, tho' I do my best to assist her. ;D

From October 18, 2021: Stunted Gloriosa Daisies growing in the street crack. We had severe drought this summer. Here some Tansy is looking cheerful out there.

Also, from October 18th: Here some Lemon Balm found a home out in the street. I was surprised the city didn't come by spraying the cracks between the gutter and the asphalt this year. In 2013 or 2014, the DPW had a guy riding a tractor with a tank of herbicide spraying. This became a yearly ritual. One time, I stood in front of the tractor and stopped him. Told him don't get any spray on my flower garden. He just sprayed the plants growing in the street.

I am loving these street crack plants! There must be a prevailing wind from your place to keep seeding them each year.
