I gotta ask adobo, do you find that peppers grow better in a pot or in the garden?

they grow better in pots coz I'm forced to buy fresh soil, I only have a very limited ground space and the ground soil is black sticky clay...

I find that the ornamental peppers don't have a lot of "taste" per say, but that might be because I can't get past the heat.

Just about all of my peppers can be considered ornamental, once they start ripening! And, while some are all heat and no flavor, I just never grow those again, and most have great flavor. Then again, I have yet to discuss the flavor intricacies of bhut jolokias with anyone! Bhut Jolokias got very ornamental when ripening: Here are some purple peppers, before ripening: Here's a close-up of gold bullet, plants of which usually have a couple hundred ripe peppers at once, with many more of all sizes of greens, waiting to ripen: And here's one of the many harvests of brightly colored peppers that season:

I like to put the pretty peppers in the bottom of jars of pickled vegetables. They add a nice kick and they retain their colour when processed.

WOW! My eyes almost fell out, those are impressive colors... thanks. sad to say that they are all foliage and no pods. thanks to my endless supply of pepper maggots and our unpredictable weather forgot about this purple flash seedling:

I am trying an OP sweet ornamental peeper this coming year 2011 called Sweet Pickle. From what I have been told they are very sweet with no heat at all. The peppers are supposed to be 2in long X1in around and grow pointed up like other ornamental peppers. If I remember right the plants grow 15 -18 inches tall and are about that around as well.

Ciao Stepheninky-
That sounds about right for Sweet Pickle. It's a pretty one if you leave the pods to fully ripen and then pickle a bunch at different stages so you get all sorts of different colours in the jar.

Yep, Sweet Pickle is a cute one indeed and has no heat at all just sweetness. I is quite a meaty pepper for being so small and quite productive too. The peppers are at their sweetest when fully ripe and red...
