It was brought up in chat last night that there are a few that grow tomatoes, but don't like the fresh from the garden thang! I grow them, but I won't eat them unless they are cooked into something re: chili, spaghetti or the like, so I thought it would make a great poll and discussion here! P.S. You will not be banned or stoned to death for your answer!

Well I don't, but I have an old Fin friend who often tells me that I should boil radishes. I guess they do in Finland, and he says they taste like cauliflower. /shrug

It rivaled the first time I was served yogurt. Some things providence meant to be served fresh.

Tomatoes? Fresh, frozen, cooked, canned, with or without salt, but preferably with Basil. The only preparation I haven't quite reconciled with yet is the Tomato Salad recipe in a cookbook I received for Christmas. Canned Stewed Tomatoes in Raspberry gelatin?? What iZ That?? Blech!

The good tasting maters are great to eat fresh right out of the garden, unfortunately not all maters have great taste and then I only suck out the juice and toss the rest of it.

I used to eat them with salt before I had a garden of my own. Now I find that they don't need it (and neither do I). I also like sundried tomatoes warm from the dehydrator. Growing up in California, we used to do them on frames outside, but it's too humid here for that. I think they'd just get mouldy.

Eating too many raw tomatoes makes my mouth hurt but sometimes eating too many cooked ones makes my stomach sour. All in all I don't eat that many and would grow half a dozen or less for just us. The best way to eat tomatoes is sliced with fresh mozzarella and basil leaves and reduced balsamic vinegar. I can't eat cheese though. I love bringing that dish to parties with lots of colored tomatoes.

"There's only two things that money can't buy, that's true love and homegrown tomatoes" (from the song). I like them fresh or cooked, or frozen or canned or dried....

There's nothing like fresh out of the garden. A little salt...yum! And ya can't beat a toasted tomato sandwich as a late night snack. And my kids think I'm giving them candy when I pick a few grape tomatoes and give them to them as a snack.
All that said... we do like to can 'em too. Salsa, spaghetti sauce, stewed, etc.

I can't help but pick "a few" cherry maters as I stroll by in the garden, and eat them. I have to pick some. The only thing I do not like is the gritty feeling of the dirt in my mouth.
