I dumped over 3 in. of water out of all of the containers in my yard yesterday (I usually save that, and water things with it, but it's soaked out there now); it rained again overnight, but only about an eighth of an inch. It is still supposed to rain again the next two days, so my water is being left off! Fortunately, though very humid, it hasn't been too hot; in fact, it has not gotten to 90° yet this year - the latest since 2003! I won't complain.

Hot, humid, stormy, but little rain--perfect disease and skeeter weather!

It's raining here...AGAIN! It got down to 62º, so that was good, but it will be back up, and even more rain tomorrow. Sure wish I could share this rain with those who need it!

By early afternoon, the rain quit and I got outside. Took a mile plus walk, including picking up the mail. Trimmed on some cedars out in my backyard. Around suppertime, I was just getting into cleaning out the pots that I'll be planting tomatoes in when a cold rain started and wouldn't let up.
At the same time, there was a Tornado Warning two counties to the south. I saw on the 11pm news that there was wind damage and 920 customers were without power tonight from the storms. The National Weather Service is going to survey the storm damage to see if they had a tornado.
At 2a, it's 61F and the rain has passed.

daylilydude, I know I'm late with this idea and it's the wrong season, but it might be worth trying to root some cuttings from the tree. (In the shade or in the house, since it's hot out.) If you get lucky enough to get one to root, then you can plant it next year and re-grow her special tree. We got just a little rain early this morning. All of the other storms this week have missed us - we've been having rain all around us but not in my yard. The sky has cleared up now, and today and tomorrow are going to be sunny and hot. Rain is supposed to return this weekend and there is a good chance of rain every day next week.

Laura_in_FL, thanks for this info, I may try and start a few of these to give to people as some friends and neighbors loved our willow trees... Already had a few neighbors stop by and say they miss that tree.

Yesterday's rain totaled .6" and was very welcome. Keeps me from carrying water.
Today we got up to 80F and it was great. I really enjoyed being outside and not getting rained on. At 11.30pm, the moon is nearly full and the temperature is 67F. Saw my 1st firefly tonight!
As for yesterday's severe weather: There indeed was an EF1 Tornado 51 miles away (as the crow flies). The tornado was on the ground for five miles (13 minutes) with the estimated peak wind speed of 90-100 MPH and a maximum width of 300 yards. Luckily there was only one injury.

It rained much of the day today, but only brief downpours. I got soaked, but it was too hot to wear any rain gear, so I just kept telling myself it's good for the garden, though it has probably gotten past that point, by now. There was about 3/4" in my buckets; I think last Sat. was the last time I had to water, and that was just some new plants. One more day of thunderstorms, and it's supposed to be better all weekend, but then, I've heard that before!
Before going to work I walked through everything out there (I'd rather get dirty and go to work, that way it's off of my by the time I get home! LOL) and I was amazed at how huge some of those tomato plants are! There are a few tomatoes, but I don't know when they will be full grown and ready. I just hope all this rain doesn't cause any fungus problems. Sat., if the forecast is still no rain, I'll spray everything with Actinovate - something I really haven't been able to do, with all this rain. Amazingly, some surround is still on; heavy rains usually wash that off, though it lasts fairly well through mild rains.

At 10.30am, it was only 60F out and dark. We should get to the mid-60s today with only a little sun. For tonight, a low of 42F. BUT, areas to our north will be even more affected by the cold, Canadian air and may experience patchy FROST!!!

Friday, I got out for my walk and there was a little rain spitting on my glasses. The temperature was 57F and I had a flannel shirt on. Late in the afternoon the sun finally came out, tho' it never warmed up to the mid-60s. Currently, it's only 47F out. A couple locations to the north of me are already in the high-30s!

Saturday morning, we were in the 40s. Since I closed the foundation on my house Friday, it only got down to 63F inside. Grayling, Michigan, got down to 33F and Cadillac, Michigan, got down to 32F! I'm sure glad I'm not gardening there. Today, we got up to 80F and it was nice and sunny. Since it wasn't humid, it was a real pleasure being outside. As an added bonus, for once I didn't mind the cool onshore breeze from the east. We might get a little rain tonight and the temperature should stay in the 60s. Grow, gardens, grow!

And I fhought it was cool here simply because I left my AC off!
It may have gotten in the 80s today, but the humidity was GONE, so it really wasn't bad, esp. after it was in the low 60s last night. Next few days humidity is returning, and with it, more rain. I really don't need that, and soon I need about a 3 week drought, so garlic will dry out before harvesting. I can dream, can't I?

88F and clear with just a bit of haze at 10 a.m. It's supposed to remain clear, and supposedly today's high will only be 90. Somehow I have a hard time believing that!
Tomorrow is supposed to be clear as well, with a good chance of thunderstorms the rest of the week. I actually need the rain.

It's 85F out at 11.45am. The dewpoint is up, so yeah, it's getting humid. We have another shot at thunderstorms tonight and Tuesday and Wednesday. We could use the rain.

It's not that bad today - only about 85° - and it was supposed to be very humid, but it hasn't happened. The sky is bright blue! I'm sure this won't last long - the humidity and rain will be here.

This morning we had a little thunder and some rain. Before 10am, there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning an hour to our west. The storm was traveling 60mph and luckily, it weakened by the time it got here. I moved some plants to shelter just-in-case.
Currently, it's 74F and there's a Tornado Warning to the county north of us. The radar is showing another line of storms approaching. We do need the rain, just not any damaging winds nor hail. The sun's trying to peak out. I'll be ready to get outdoors this afternoon.
ETA: A funnel cloud was sighted. The storm has weakened.

After 1pm, the second line of thunderstorms has passed here. To the northeast of me in my county, there's currently a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. The sun has just come out and the temperature is 72f and it should get up to a humid 84F today.
I'm out the door...

It finally hit 90 here - 93°, to be exact - but I was lucky in that the predicted humidity is still not here. I finally turned my water back on to some of the timers, as some areas were beginning to dry a little, though nothing to worry about with the large, well mulched plants. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse, but then, they've been wrong before.

Just before noon today, there ended up being a confirmed EF1 tornado 28 miles away (as the crow flies). The tornado was to the northeast of us. It was on the ground for 1.6 miles with a maximum width of 100 yards and a maximum speed of 100 MPH. There was some damage and no injuries.
We had a total of .4" of rain and should be getting some more in the next 24 hours.

Normal July weather...that for some reason started June 10th and continued.
Hot. Humid. Heat indices in the morning until 3pm around 105-115F.
Daily afternoon thunderstorms, often severe, but not lasting more than 3 hours usually.
Daily rain with the daily storms, from 1/4 inch to 1 inch.
Hot and humid at night. What we southern gals call "sultry." (which is a sexy word for sweaty)
