What Ellie said, although she hogged all my rain up until yesterday, when she finally let me have a much-needed 1.5". Oink oink oinkety!

Still a light rain and 71F before 1pm. In the country, we're up to 1.6" of wonderful rain.

Congrats, Strat. I know you needed it. I went outside for a while to pick. No heavy work, just picking a couple of baskets of tomatoes and peppers. By the time I came in I was drenched and no, it was not raining. It's not even very hot according to the thermometer - only in the mid 80s. But it was so humid and the air was still that I was pouring sweat trying to cool off, but of course in the still, humid air it couldn't evaporate. Ick, ick. The funny thing is that if there had just been a little breeze it probably would have been fairly comfortable. Ah, well. That's Florida for you. Now, one cool shower and a fresh set of clothes later, I feel like a civilized human being again.

Now, one cool shower and a fresh set of clothes later, I feel like a civilized human being again. I can stand the fact that my shirt gets soaked and sticks to me, and that I have to braid my hair down to the last inch or it will snare on my wet arms and pull, but the thing that drives me NUTS is the little river of sweat pouring down my nose! There's nothing to wipe it off! Everything is wet! I used to bring a little towel out but you can mop your face every 3 mins and still get the river off the nose.
Last August (yes, August) I had to lay sod. Ugh. An area nearly 100x100ft. So. Bathing suit, rubber boots, hat, and small ice packs in the hat and around my neck wrapped in flour sack dishtowels. Sunscreen. And sports drink (which I hate...make me think of anti-freeze). I think that was the closest I actually ever came to dying from the heat. Hahahaha! Yes I am being dramatic, but GOSH it was very hot. I would make a TERRIBLE roofer.

We had a hot one on Saturday. The dewpoint was up and I could see moisture hanging in the air. In town, we had 84F and in Mom's backyard it was 90F. The tomatoes are catching. I worked in the shade a lot and was out until dark. At 10pm, it was still 77F.
Edit: We had a nice rain shower blow through. I put stuff away and went in. It was over before I knew it and I went right back out.

We were stuck in the 60s all day. Remind you of anyone? I got out and pushed the mower and welcomed the cool breeze. After 11.30pm, we're 57F with a light rain falling. Up North in Michigan this morning, there was a 37F reading!

Jealous! Won't see temps below 70's for another three months! Arthur finally left. This far inland, we received five inches at the house and garden. Toomuch all at once. Needed thpe rain but......
Don't know how much bestofour got since she is farther east of me, closer to arthur, or Timothyt.

Don't know how much bestofour got since she is farther east of me, closer to arthur, or Timothyt. Well.....Timothyt's garden only got a whopping .25 of an inch out of Sir Arthur, but some pretty good constantly shifting winds! On the other hand the temps dropped into the high 60's overnight so we enjoyed sleeping with the windows open and are expecting cooler temps for today and tomorrow instead of the mid 90's highs and low/mid 70's lows with 75-85% humidity that we've been having for quite awhile---tough mater setting conditions---but the diseases and bugs sure have thrived and enjoyed those previous conditions--Ha!! At noon today it was officially only 79F, but my garden and deck were even better showing only 74F and only 48% humidity. Ought to be a good conditions for watching the fireworks tonight---if I'm still awake--ha!

Weather has been great here, too! Turned off the ac, as it is in the 70s, w/low humidity, after a 3 day heat wave! It is super windy, so I gave up on spraying - something I was planning on when I got home, but instead I just did some cleaning up, and re-routing my tomatoes through the fences. I'll just enjoy this weather now, since I know it won't last long.

A delightful day for July! Started with an enjoyably brisk 57F and topped out at only 83F.

Yes, this is a nice break from the upper 90s we had last week. It's still hot (upper 80s) in midday, but much more bearable.

At midnight, we're still 7OF and are in a lull from the thunderstorm. Hopefully, more rain will form. That'll save me carrying water.

At 1.30am, it's still 69F out. We didn't get much rain last night at all. The storms went around us for the most part. My brother to the west, got a torrential downpour. In the overnight hours and until 2pm tomorrow, we have a real good chance for rain.
At least with the warm nights, the gardens keep growing.

It got to 95° today, and was still 93° at 6:45 (the reason I didn't do much when I got home!), but it dropped to 72° by 8:45, during a WICKED thunderstorm we had (the other reason I didn't do much! LOL). I'll find out tomorrow how much rain I actually got.

Back to de hot stuff. But MAYBE a bit of rain soon! Like tomorrow! I am rain dancing for all I'm worth...ouch my meniscus! Rain = flying/stinging insects fly and sting less. Rain = I can tolerate being outdoors for about 3-4 hours and get LOTS done! Please let it rain tomorrow and be cloudy and not have much lightning! I have some major clearing up to do in the tomato area.

We had a terrible thunderstorm last night, lightning stuck really close to the house and it run in and took out 2 ceiling fans, 1 window a/c, my computer monitor and made 3 light bulbs explode in their sockets, was a ruff night... lol!

Sorry to hear about that lightning strike, dld. What time of day did those storms blow through? Everyone OK?

Whew, daylilydude, that lightning strike was way too close for comfort. I am glad you are okay and that you didn't have more damage to your house. We were supposed to have an 80% chance of rain (which we really need!) today, but all we got were some clouds around dawn. There were storms in the Panhandle last night and this morning, but they all missed us - some to the north and some to the south. It's mostly sunny and hot now. Supposedly we have an 80% chance tomorrow and a 50% chance Saturday - maybe some rain will actually materialize. We really need some.

stratcat , it happened at just around midnight when we were all asleep, needless to say... we were up the rest of the night because I was worried about a fire in this old house, so we are ok... just lost sleep and a few replaceable items. Laura_in_FL, We hope that you get the rain that you need... but lightning... not so much...

We had a very pleasant day, great for working outside. Mid-70s and low humidity. In the night, a couple places north of me had 38F and 39F. Yikes!
I see Tuesday is only supposed to get to 64F! Starting to sound like the summer of '92; the summer without a summer...

The "year without a summer" does not sound good - especially after the brutal winter you had. I sure hope you get your summer weather soon.
I got about 0.1" of rain yesterday. Places all around me got more - the "rain shield" seems to be hanging out over my house again.
It is supposed to rain again today, but so far the radar is clear over the whole central Panhandle. Supposedly we will get rain tonight and Saturday, too. But after all the rains that have been forecast and never happened over the last few weeks, I am in a "I'll believe it when I see it," state of mind.

Thanks, Laura.
Before noon it's 86F and I just watered my plants at Mom's. We should be getting some rain later today and tonight. Cross my fingers...

We had a high of 87F today. I spent loads of time outside. Around 8.30pm, the rain started to fall, so I knocked off. I couldn't find my umbrella, so I peeled off my tank and took a mile walk. By the time I got back it was raining pretty good. It wasn't cold.
After 11pm, it's still 71F and the gardens are growing.

I think our high was 87º today, too, and low humidity, with almost no clouds late in the day, so that sun was intense! It has been getting somewhat cool at night, which those ripening tomatoes like.

there is a huge lazy and slow front sliding diagonally from MO to PA that is much colder on the western side. I expect it to force tornadoes and apocalyptic thunder storms. I'se still on the eastern side and it is dankly humid. Sort of like being sat on by a golden retriever.

We ended up with 1.6" of rain last night. I had no idea. Woo whoo! Today was in the low 80s and muggy. We should be getting some more rain in the next day or two, including a cool down. Before midnight, it's still 63F. Not bad.

Who do I have to bribe to get that front to come all the way down here?
