So this is what I have had to do: My garden is at the edge of the property which is called the "hollow", a pretty steep hill with lots of trees and brush and tall grass. And wildlife. We have seen deer, rabbits, foxes, wild turkeys, groundhogs(woodchucks), raccoons, squirrels, about twenty or twenty-five varieties of birds, and a pair of bobcats.
Our friends the bobcats have kept the rabbit population in check, but still we have surrounded the garden with a picket fence with chicken wire around the bottom and a deer fence around the top on the three back sides where the deer run. For the past two years there has been no loss due to these pests (rabbits and deer). Yesterday while checking the plants, 8 of 14 pepper plants were chewed off right down to the ground and the rest had most of the bottom leaves gone. I found the entry point in the chicken wire and fixed it but that was closing the barn door after the horses got out...or in and then out.
I have not had to go hunting for a while but it is time to load up the pellet gun and begin blasting. So what happened to the bobcats?

Sorry to hear that, Paul.
I wonder what happened to those bobcats. With them gone, it puts the balance of nature out of whack, for sure. I'm hoping your peppers make a comeback.

Just got back from running a 5K in Des Moines and we are down to three peppers. Tonight the gun comes out. It's rabbits11, Paul 3 and the death count begins.
