I've read that soaking corn seed in water before planting is a good idea, any truth to it?

Yes. The night before I plant, I draw some warm water and soak my corn in it overnight. I get quicker germination.

Warm soil helps more, but plumped up corn is a good thing.

I do it for a day or so before planting and it works, but I don't know how it compares it to not soaking. I have varmints that dig up corn seeds so I want fast sprouting.

It made a huge difference for me! I soak almost everything now.
