I planted a few Purple Passion sweet potato slips last year so as to get a start for this year. They were $12 for a dozen which was sky high, but I wanted to try them. Well out of what I grew last year, I was able to get a hundred or so slips for me to plant and must say they did better then any purple sweet tater I have ever tried. Taste is there as well.

Absolutely beautiful. And here I think sweet potatoes have to be golden inside. I have had luck with sweet potatoes only once. The other times the voles take over and eat most and live in the hollowed out potatoes. I've got to try again.
Glenn Drowns of Sand Hill Preservation sells many different varieties of slips with a pretty good instruction sheet. Another sweet potato guy from Oklahoma has a very good selection as well...for the life of me I can't remember his name right now. He is active on several forums---help me out here.
I just did a search and I think it is Duck Creek Farms run by Gary Schaum out of Mound, OK. Or maybe it someone else I was thinking of. Since he does lots of Heirloom/OP tomatoes I think he's the guy.

Those purple pies are really pretty. Elliemater recommended Tatorman to me: www.tatorman.com/plants.htm but I never got around to ordering any sweet potatoes this year.

Laura, that is where I got mine! Plus several hundred Beauregard. Last year was a bad year around here, but I got many bushel of seed for next year now. Remind me next spring and maybe I can send you a tater so you can grow a few slips to try.
