Has anyone tried this variety ?? I saw it for the first time a few days ago - I thought it was a tomato to start with... The seeds are not expensive and I wonder whether to grow it "just for fun" - I would love to know how it tastes!!?

How do you mean - it tastes like the Persimmon tomato or it is a Persimmon tomato...?? It is supposed to be a Aubergine/Eggplant!!

Does that mean it tastes as good as it looks, or is it still eggplant?

In the photo it looked rather like a persimmon. Aubergine as a term for a fruit or vegetable is never used USAin.

Does that mean it tastes as good as it looks, or is it still eggplant? It looks rather good, doesn't it....must admit I wouldn't mind trying it...still eggplant though!! In the photo it looked rather like a persimmon. Aubergine as a term for a fruit or vegetable is never used USAin. Now I understand Coppice - nope - it is an Eggplant... This is the English description. "Eggplant Heirloom variety from Turkey producing small compact plants with an abundance of rich sweet, strong flavoured fruits. Orange to red round tomato like 7cm fruits. Best eaten at light orange with some green stripping stage, once fruits are red orange they are best stuffed. Baby veg 65-90 days height 45-60cm. Ideal in containers or pots."I wondered if anyone had come across it before...first time I have ever seen it but I may try and get a few seeds. From what I gather it isn't a F1 either which makes getting seeds later easier..!!

I certainly will - the only think that makes me a little wary is that they say - "rich, sweet, strong flavoured fruits" - I wouldn't have said that Eggplants are strongly flavoured or sweet - maybe it is just me..

Well, if they are right with the description, it will make for a most interesting eggplant!

Hmmm.... the "sweet" part in the description intrigues me, as they might help my family want to eat them, as it is now, I'm the only one who will eat eggplant as the rest of my family thinks eggplant is bitter no matter how I have cooked it.

Must admit that I am intrigued because I class eggplant as "bitter" as well...I have tried to order seeds but as yet haven't received a mail..will keep you informed.. EDIT: Just received a mail that I will get seeds - not many but enough to get some plants next year - I do hope that I can save some seeds for others..
