This was a tomato puffed by Carolyn Male years ago. As a result there is a ton of not-true-to-type examples out there. (which is not her fault) I've not yet gotten Opalka seed (and that includes seed-house seed) that I would bother to save or grow again. I expect it should be yet another cows-horn shaped paste. After all the hype, I looked forward to tasting that flavorful tomato. I was gifted one and it tasted below average. Really boring.

we grew it three years ago and i have to agree with strat and daylilly totally. flavor was bland, and the plants really struggled i wonderful tomato weather. i couldn't understand all the ravings about this variety on many forums.

I agree with all.I grew it two years in a row, mainly for canning. The production was sad for three plants and the taste just wasn't there for fresh eating.Very small fruits that were BER prone most of the season.
