I have grown it and it was pretty, the shape is just so great, but nothing special flavor-wise. But I have tried very good ones before so I'm giving it another chance this year. Let's hope it does well...

Yellow pear an old and possibly even an anscestral tomato. I've had it volunteer on years when it had to be an F2 expression. Depending on the year and the consumer this is well received or well hated (a yum or a yuck). Rarely a ho-hum tomato.
Many years this is a fairly high moisture tomato with a lot of gel, and can have a fairly acidic bite.
Tomato-leaf indeterminate. Fruit size: small-cherry Productivity 7 Taste: 5 to 8
Post script: This is one of a very short list of tomato that successfuly grew to ripe in-field in New England, by volunteer.

The best way I have found to enjoy Yellow Pear is in jam. Otherwise it is just so so for taste. I have also noticed it seems to be more prone to disease then others.

I grew Yellow Pear one year and the next had a couple of volunteers. Production was outstanding. At least I think it was outstanding. After trying the first couple of ripe groupings, I ignored the plant. When it died it was absolutely covered in fruit from green to burst and sagging from overripeness.
One of these days I may try Yellow Submarine which I hear is a more tasty strain of Yellow Pear, but I doubt it.
It is an outstanding plant for a child's garden for the bang factor.

Grew it once by mistake and that is what it is.

Yellow Pear was on the bland side and not as good as Red Pear. YP looks neat and was fun to snack on. I grew Yellow Submarine last year and it was better tasting.

There are far better cherry-pear types out there.
