This will be my 3rd year growing this tomato. I've heard it was slow to produce, but 2 yrs in a row now, nothing. The plant grew nicely, but no tomatoes. ;( I started it from seed earlier this year. I'd be happy to get just ONE tomato. Who's grown it and tasted it and is it worth the trouble? Stump of the World

Stump is one of my favorite tomatoes and is usually in the mid productive range. Not only is the flavor very good (of course that means "in my estimation") but is also a very pretty tomato to look at. In my garden Stump produces between 15 and 20 tomatoes in the 8 to 12 ounce size range. Tatiana's Tomatobase has photos showing some fruits quite fluted, but mine have been more smooth. So far as I am concerned it is worth trying and waiting. Good luck this year.

virraszto, have your Stump of the World plants been blooming or not? If they are blooming, have you tried buzzing the blooms with an electric toothbrush? That really helps some of my "shy setters" to put on fruit. If they are not blooming, you can try a shot of bloom booster fertilizer to see if you can goose them into it. If the plant is just sitting there green and not blooming, you don't have anything to lose by trying.

Laura, I think the did bloom last year, but it was too late in the season. I remember thinking it was going to get too cold, and it did. I think they did have tiny tomatoes just starting, but were killed off by the weather. I started them from seed much earlier this year, so hopefully, I can get some tomatoes.

Gotcha. Hopefully they will bloom earlier this year. I have heard good things about that variety from several people. Maybe I will try it next year, since I have seed.

Stump of the World is more of a mid-season tomato than late-season for me in Connecticut. It produces very attractive fruit on strong vines. Flavor is excellent.

This is one of our favorites since I started growing it in 2013. The first year it was very late to produce - the plants were tall and beautiful but had no flowers until late July. I finally got a decent number of tomatoes from it before the first frost and they were delicious! Last year I had better and earlier results. Again, it was a family favorite! This year it was the first plant to set fruit so I'm hopeful for a very strong finish for this one! These are the tomatoes I like to use fresh for salads, sandwiches or layered with fresh Mozerella and basil for a caprese salad!

I grew this last year and again this year. I had a terrible Summer for growing last year, but I still got tomatoes off of it. I have 3 plants in the garden this year and they are loaded.

That's pretty crazy! I am glad you finally got some tomatoes from them, at least.

This tomato has done well in most areas of the country. Perhaps it is your seed that just is not producing tomatoes for you. If you would like some seed of mine, please PM me.
