This week I thought we'd review Purple Bumble Bee. The Bumble Bee varieties made a big splash when they were introduced. So, do they live up to the hype?

I'm afraid I won't be much help. Purple Bumblebee was in my garden last year and I didn't get around to tasting it. This pretty much happens every year; one slips by the goalie.

See, now you were supposed to help me with a long and detailed review, Strat. I have seeds for that one and I am being sneaky, fishing to reviews to determine whether it gets into next year's garden.

I grew them for the first time last year, and really liked them! They had good flavor; not as sweet as some, but good balance of flavor. None split, even during a 7" deluge we had! Great production, though we had a mild summer, so I can't say if it will be heat resistant. And this year, the ones in the Earthbox flowered first of all, though I won't be able to say if it will be the first ripe one.
