Yep some hard choices indeed. However some are on the grow list for life.Abe Lincoln ,Al-Kuffa, Thessaloníki, Black Krim,Un-Known Black,Rose,Cowlicks,Cosmonaut Volkov, Mariana's Peace. Some of my plants where put out late last year so I am sure the grow for life list will get bigger.I am pretty sure Campari will be there too. It did pretty good last year.

Kev, I see that you really like the Al-Kuffa, can you give us your opinion on it, and if it does well for you I might try and tease a few seed for next year?

Hey, Kevin. How did Michigan State and Shumway's Sensation turn out for you last year? Unfortunately I was not able to get Shumway's out last year. But have plenty of seed to grow it out this year. Michigan State was late getting it to the garden but I think it shows some promise as I did get some fruits and the taste was pretty good.Funny thing is I found out this is a 1950's era greenhouse forcing mater and the developer is obvious ;D It grew well and produced some nice tomatoes. It is a Red RL tomato and plants are indeterminate. I think getting them out on time this year will make a big difference in production and growth rate. I might add I will be growing some more of the seed bank maters this year so I may have some new news on them.Would be nice if they all do good. The description and pics on the German seed bank site was very helpful with selecting these varieties so I hope for something good to come out of it. Kevin

Kev, I see that you really like the Al-Kuffa, can you give us your opinion on it, and if it does well for you I might try and tease a few seed for next year? Oh we went nuts over them in 09. The flavor was great. To be honest I was not expecting them to be as good as they where.Because it is such a nice compact plant it could be the one extra tomato to stick in a small area where you could not put the average variety. And production is outstanding. These tomatoes are about the size as Campari and in some cases a little bigger.Plants are I would say no more than 3 foot tall and upright. That is until they start producing. These plants bear so much of these great tasting maters if you do not put a small stake out for them they will fall over. We had about 12 of these in 09. Leaf is typical of the patio type. Kevin

Well Minnie I have a few that are forever in the garden. Al-Kuffa,Rose, Thessaloníki , Cosmonaut Volkov and Cowlicks Brandywine. Several I have are returning because last year I was late getting them out and we lost twelve plants to rabbits.

Of course it had to be a dark mater. That's is the cool thing about these mater-mysteries... .listening to those in the know tell their fascinating mater-genealogy stories. Awesome Darth.
