Sometimes I wish for a really cold winter... which we didn't have here just so it can get rid of some of the ticks... good goggly-woggly I have pulled 6 ticks off me in just the last 2 weeks... do you have a problem with them and what do you do about it?

None have showed up here ....yet. Just have to pull them off after a visit to certain parts of the yard, the parts in the trees and brush. Afraid it is a fact of life around here.

Not sure a cold winter would help much, ours just all come back in the late spring, early summer! We have wood ticks (also called American dog ticks) as well as the tiny Lyme disease carrying deer ticks. We never saw deer ticks when we first moved up here about 40 years ago (didn't see many deer then either, many had died off after two very severe winters.) Now we have deer all over (and droppings all over our lawn) and we find deer ticks on us or our pets four or five times during the summer. I'd much rather deal with wood ticks, but we don't see as many of those as we used to.

Ewww...ticks. I recently read that one of the (very few!) advantages of fire ants is that where there are a lot of fire ants, there are very few ticks. Apparently the ants eat them?

I haven't seen ticks this year but we do have fire ants and I hope Laura is right about that. If we've got to have the ants I hope they murder the ticks.

I HATE ticks and it was just on the news yesterday that PA is in for a really bad year for ticks due to the warm winter. Lots of Lyme disease too as well as a new disease carried by ticks. They were showing a piece of white paper crawling with ticks and it gave me the creeps.

Eww brownrexx. I either read somewhere or someone told me that they've found 17 ticks on them this year.

DLD you remind me of a lab, Deacon, we had a while back. He would lay on the concrete garage floor and I would see ticks coming in all directions crawling toward him. And he wore a flea and tick collar.
