need to mend a hose? the best (and I do mean the best) way to cut that old hose is with a pair of hand pruners. the hose sits neatly in the cradle of the bypass while you cut the hose with the pruner blade.

Thank you carolyn, I have always just whipped out my trusty pocket-knife and gave it a good whack, and if you want to cut it faster then... there is always the running over with lawn mower...

that works pretty well, but if you want to mend it the mower really makes it take a long time piecing it back together to make a hose out of it... My FIL always thought the longer to do a job the better it must be. that would probably fall into the category. yep, something that should have taken 5 minutes just took 5 hours. well done! I don't carry a knife but usually hand pruners are at hand.

carolyn , i'm the opposite of that... I lay down those pruners and for some reason i'm not sure about I forget where I put them... and I always carry a pocket knife...I even have a pocket knife called a "toothpic" that I carry to church.
