It has been a very cold spring here in NW Ohio, but was a mild winter. Three years ago, I had to have a dying maple tree removed from my backyard. I made a big circle with bricks, dumped in quite a bit of compost and clean dirt and planted an herb garden. I have added to it every year and included perennials and annual herbs. I was pleased to notice that some of the annuals are peeking through (oregano), and perennials like yarrow, lemon balm, sage, lavender, bergamot and others are thriving. I also have spring bulbs planted there and so far, the narcissus have bloomed, iris are starting up. There are also morning glories leafing out...I just lvoe them. I am obviously not a strict rules gardener, but I love my plants..I also have lavender, chocolate mint and spearmint in separate gardens at the front of my house. upload free
