I'm not a drinker, but I'm thinking I'd like to make about 8 ounces of each as flavorings in baked goods. Sort of use them as extracts like you would vanilla.
anyone ever make either of those or something similar?

I came across a recipe for the Cherry Bounce and started thinking to myself. The recipe said to take 6 cups cherries, cup of sugar, 2 ounces lemon juice and let simmer for 20 minutes, let cool, put in a glass jar and add a quart of whiskey. Put lid on jar and Shake it up good, then put in a cool dark place for 3 months.
I don't want to make that much, so I figured I'd use a small bottle of whiskey and adjust the other ingredients to suit me. I'd also use honey instead of white sugar cause we don't buy it. We use coconut sugar for just about all baked goods, but I'm not sure it would work. I feel confident the honey would work.
After straining, I figured to take the cherries and make a cake with them.
Yeah Baby!!!

Cherries that have been soaked in liquor are a real party food. I remember those from college, one girl got lit just from eating the fruit from the top of a bowl of party punch. of course that was about 33 years ago.

I once made some limoncello with lemon peel, sugar, and vodka. And a version of something similar using off-the-tree orange peels. Pretty good and not very difficult. There are still some of these concoctions lurking in the back of the alternate pantry.

I remember those from college, one girl got lit just from eating the fruit from the top of a bowl of party punch. of course that was about 33 years ago. Back around the late 70's, when I was a wee lad, I went to a friend's sweet 16 birthday bash. We were all sitting around a table, laughing, cutting up and drinking "punch" the Birthday girl comes over and wants me to dance. I tried to stand up, but fell on my (you know what.) The room was spinning!!!! I found out later it was trash can punch with slow gin and who knows what else those turkies put in it. A friend took me home. I was spinning so bad, I slept with 1 foot on the floor! to this day, I don't drink! Now if you're wondering why they were serving liquor to teens, they weren't. Someone snuck it in. The party was pretty big and several people were there.

Did it work good as extracts? Lemon would be real good! I didn't try them as extracts - when I want lemon, lime or orange flavor, I walk outside and pick a fresh one to zest. The one with orange peels worked pretty well in place of Triple Sec for margaritas.
