I have one of the non-motorized ones and it has just gotten to be to much work so the wife and I were looking at the electric model that Harbor Freight Pole Saw sales and was gonna check here as to see if anyone uses a pole saw and which it was electric, battery or gas model to see the benefits they give you?

We have a corded electric chain saw pole saw. This was purchased before the battery operated saws had enough power to do the job. Mine has a 6 inch bar and does a really nice job. The problem is that the plug-in is a little loose and it comes unplugged every once in a while mostly when I am reaching up to saw a limb. I tape the plug and socket to keep them together. The restriction is on how long an extension I have and where I need to saw. With the new lithium batteries available, I would go to that style, but not now since I have a perfectly good corded saw. Cheaper to buy an extension cord than a new pole saw.

I have a pole saw that I've had for several years. It is old enough that it does not oil automatically as the new ones do. More power than the battery types, 12 inch bar. I like it. I also have a Craftsman electric saw with an 18 inch bar that does oil its bar automatically. Both more convenient than my gas saw if the electricity to run them is there. Generators are a pain to move around.
If you use a pole saw remember to make your undercuts inside the main cut so that when the limbs fall they do not strip all the way to the trunk. Don't make the undercut so deep that the weight of the limb traps the saw.

I have a corded pole saw - only 10" chain saw, but it serves the purposes, as seldom as I need it. I think that friends have used it more than me! lol I probably got it at Harbor Freight.

I also thought for a very long time what kind of saw I would buy and decided what to look on the Internet. How lucky I was to stumble upon the site polesawguide.com/blog/how-to-sharpen-a-pole-saw-blade/. There they described in detail about each type of saw and I decided that I would buy a gasoline

Use my sons corded electric pole saw. Guessing he bought from H F. Work good, only problem I see is the oil tank leaks and makes a mess. No more hours than it gets used, can't complain, and am sure the price was right. Am sure it is lighter than a gas powered one.

paulf, to prevent the cord from unplugging, take a pliers and twist the prongs a little. Martin The truth is more important than the facts.

Martin, the problem isn't the plug and how they fit, but that my big size 12s tend to step on the cord as I reach up to saw.

Paul, that's also my problem with the chainsaw a.k.a."electric tomahawk". Twisting the prongs didn't help that!
