Don't quite know what I am going to grow this year. I bought some new varieties at Tomatofest, and only because I liked the names. I know what I won't grow: cherry tomatoes and very large beefsteak. I always end up with a lot of those cracking and rotting on the plants. Too much waste. The one I always grow is Early Girl: right size, right productivity, and enough disease resistance to last until frost.

I just barely managed to figure out my beans and peppers. Haven't made it to tomatoes just yet.

What tomatoes are you growing. I have no clue. You are in Texas so your preferred tomatoes may be much different from what we grow in SW Missouri. What traits are you looking for? My sister just moved to Dallas and I know the growing season is much different from here. Just looking for suggestions.

I started seed about a week ago and have sprouts up from most. A couple varieties have not sprouted so I'm restarting them. Here's my list of tomatoes:
Arkansas Traveler Oregon Spring Israel Japanese Black Trifele Brandywine Yellow Black Cherry Rebel Alliance Dwarf Mr. Snow Mocha Splash Karma Pink Tiny Tim Indian Curry--growing these for my Indian neighbors
Also, I ordered a mixed heirloom pack from Fedco a couple years ago, and have been growing one or more mystery plants. It's fun to try to figure out what I've got. I have a master list of what variety it COULD be.
ALL of these are 'new to me' varieties! Branching out! :-)

Hensaplenty, I sowed Tiny Tim this year, but didn't get any to come up. My seed stock was very old. I grew Traveler last year. It did ok here, but wasn't a heavy producer. I see we are both trying Rebel Alliance this year and I nearly always grow black cherry. I'll be interested to see your other tomatoes and how they do for you.

Rebel Alliance is definitely a keeper! It's delicious, productive and I love the multiflora trait. Such a pretty plant to have in the garden. However, it's not stable yet, so you'll have to report back what you get! Here was the results from two different plants: The tomatoes on the left with the heart shapes are what you are hoping for. The tomatoes on the right are what you are hoping don't come around. They were still tasty, but way bigger than a cherry size!

@jong,
I have a friend in Oklahoma that really likes Sioux. I've never grown it, but it's on my to do list.
Please keep us updated as I'm always interested in what others are growing and how it does for them.

@jong , I have a friend in Oklahoma that really likes Sioux. I've never grown it, but it's on my to do list. Please keep us updated as I'm always interested in what others are growing and how it does for them. I grew Sioux a couple of times. The first time it did not do much for me. The second time was in the Summer 2012, when we had record high temperatures, and it performed beautifully. Sioux is a nice tomato, but there are many others just as nice. I would not know what to tell you about that makes it stand out.
