hairymooseknuckles, any pics... they make great teasers to the northern gardeners that are just now planting out...

We are about halfway up the map and of the 35 varieties here, there are 5 with blossoms. But then while we are still munching on fresh tomatoes the bottom of the map folks will be all burned up. It's a trade-off.

hairymooseknuckles , daylilydude , paulf , bestofour , spike , brownrexx Sat down tonight and ate a sample of each. Tomato only, no salt. The winner hands down is Ruby Pearl with Mini Gold coming in a close second. Sara's Galapagos were excellent too, but sadly the vine is dead. I guess it was too much heat and I forgot to water it. The small mystery ones on the small micro plant are spitters. Yellow Submarine were ok, but not much better than your standard yellow pear. Mystery Grape was ok, but nothing special.

Looks like a party on a plate, hairymooseknuckles! But sorry to hear that your micros were spitters. I have grown a few micros, and even though I've only grown a few types, I've had the range from spitters to quite yummy.

hairymooseknuckles of the micros I have grown so far, Hahms Gelbe Topftomate is my favorite - it makes mild, sweet little yellow cherries. Matures in about 100 days from sowing seed, 50-60 days from transplant. This is a tiny little plant, only a little over 6" tall, bushy with rugose foliage, and it gets just covered with fruits. However, it is not disease resistant, so I recommend you grow it indoors when disease pressure is high. Because it is so tiny, it's a great plant to grow indoors under a light. I think I still have enough seeds to spare a few. They are older, from 2013, but still should sprout. I also have seed for Jochalos, but I haven't grown yet. It's supposed to be early, with rugose foliage, and 12-15” in height. Elliemater, who sent me the seeds, speaks very highly of it:

I'm not totally sure which is which but that was to read. We have 100 Seeds in Charlotte and last year was their first tomato tasting. We went and we're going again this year. It's so fun.
