There was some mention of the above summer squash over the past couple of years. The official name is Cocozella di Napoli.
I will never grow any other variety of summer squash again, I don't think.
This variety is wonderful. It looks a bit different from standard issue zucchini, it has raised ribbing and is striped.
It is firm, meaty, tastes great even raw, and lasts a good long time in the frij. Even when large, still retains its great qualities.
I bought the seed from Baker Creek.
The plants are huge.
Er...that's it.

Er...that's it. I like it as well. I'm pretty fond of most Squash. Errr. Take that back, I should have said I'm fond of squash you fry. Slice thin and fry like potato chips. Baked squash is ok too. I mean, I will eat it, I just prefer it fried cause I'm countryfied.

@hmk. Never heard of Mel McDaniel before, but my husband is the country expert in our household and I am going to show him that video forthwith. He is a fan of Lefty Frizzell & Dwight Yoakam in particular. I listened to that song and I liked it even tho country is not my main preference. Nice and tuneful, and you could understand all the words, no mumbling.
So, enjoy your fried food! Everything is definitely better fried, but I try to control myself! I like winter squash baked with a bit of oil. YUM.

That looks nice. I grow a similar one from Burpee called Green Tiger but it is a bush type. I noticed that it didn't get killed by the Squash Vine Borers as soon as other types of zucchini that I have grown. It is medium green with light green stripes.
