I need some suggestions on a quick fix on my greenhouse floor! When I put up the greenhouse it was put on a section of driveway parking where there was no grass, just grey gravel, so when I put it up I just added about 4 or 5 more inches of gravel inside, well wouldn't you just know that dang veining grass has decided to grow inside, I keep pulling but it keeps coming back... any suggestions on how to fix it without taking the greenhouse down??

How about a salt/vinegar/water solution?

Is there any way you could lay a piece of carpet inside?

We have woven ground cover in our greenhouses. Other than a weedkiller I don't know what else you can do. It will grow through carpet.

If you have no old used carpet, you could try some cheap indoor/outdoor carpet if your greenhouse is not too big. I started out with dirt covered with woven weedblocker fabric. This worked ok for a year until it started to tatter in the pathways. Then I added some inches of pea gravel to cover it. I found that was too hard on my feet for long standing, so I bought rubber mats to run down the center. The mats have large drainage holes, so I had to add a layer of burlap under them to keep the pea gravel from working through the mat. I still get some grasses trying to grow in along the walls, but they are easy to pull out if I don't wait too long. Your grass is probably worse since it can grow year around. You could use Roundup with a paintbrush on the grasses inside and along the outside walls of the greenhouse if the spray might blow around too much.

daylilydude, I just had an idea. They make plastic mats that are about 12'x9'. I think we spent about 40 bucks on ours. When we set our motor home up permanently, we used tent stakes to keep it in place. It works well for keeping grass controlled, although we do pull it up every time we mow. Don't give up, there's always more ways than one to fix a problem.

What's usually used is woven ground cover under gravel, or under mulch if it's in landscaping beds. Usually cheap enough to do small areas. Can get pricy when going for thousands of sq ft. It's a dime a sq ft at my local supplier.
