Thanks, everyone! I had a nice birthday, including the many lovely birthday wishes you guys gave me here, calls and emails from family members, I got some goos news from the contractor (the chimney guy is coming out tomorrow morning to make an estimate for fixing my chimney...the end of my relationship with the contractor may finally be in sight!), the kids sang happy birthday to me, DH took me out for a very nice surf & turf dinner, and I got a garden hod as a present. When I opened my present, I said, "I guess I have to grow lots of vegetables this summer now!" My kids were confused about the hod, though. When I first opened it, they asked what it was for. What they really meant was, "Mom, why are you so excited about getting a stupid basket? Have you finally gone off the deep end?" But when I explained that it was a lot stronger than my old wicker baskets, and the coated metal mesh bottom is designed so you can hose the dirt off your veggies outside, rather than bringing all the dirt inside, they appreciated the design. But the way his eyes lit up, I do wonder if one of them is planning to appropriate it for some other purpose...? There is nothing for it: I will have to guard my hod jealously!

Hah, one of my kids has used the hod already! No harm done, though.
