Today the tomato list for 2020 went from 280 varieties down to 50. It will take a few days to decide how many of each color and shape will fit in the space given for tomatoes. It will be maybe twenty plants again this year, down from thirty-five a couple of years ago. Next week the first preliminary list will be finalized. Then for a week any random thoughts about which varieties are missing will be added to the list. By mid-February the final iteration will be presented to friends and family for final approval. So any suggestions for "must grow" tomatoes better be coming soon before the stone gets chiseled.
So far no snow to speak of and winter seems to be rapidly advancing or maybe like the old folks say, "From here on out it is a steep down hill ride."

Barely got into my tomato stock last night. Only got through what had been received in past couple years. Selected 30 from those. Tried to include all basic colors and sizes. Room for up to 10 more in pots, mostly determinates. Friend and I will spend a lot of time Friday while she selects 25-30. Should have the lists set after that.

At the first snowy cold spell with nothing else to do, some time was set aside to go through the tomato seed inventory and make the 2020 decision. What used to be 35 varieties has been cut to 20 since age has been increasing and ambition waning. No suggestions were received from my friends so ready or not here is the list:
Pinks: Rosovyi Kilogram Movyi Giant Belgium Mortgage Lifter (no idea the strain but last time it was great) Rebel Yell Joe's Portuguese Paul's Pink Pride (friend finally found this one for me and shared seeds)
Red: Zogola Blake's Magnum (renamed after a grandson from a USDA seed bank originally called BL8 Magnum) Delicious Italian Sweet
Black: Clear Lake Heirloom Cherokee Chocolate Black Bear
Heart: Fish Lake Oxheart Canadian Heart Anna Margaret Heart (seeds from another tomato friend) Japanese Oxheart Nolan Boy's Russian (renamed for a grandson from No-Name Russian from USDA seed bank)
Yellow/Orange: Orange Russian #117 Kellogg's Breakfast or KBX
